I have not felt like writing. Still, I have managed to write a few things even though I didn't feel like delving into my journals. Right now, I'm just going to be happy that I'm going to make my self imposed deadlines. And I will, because those make me want to write. I have the next couple of updates written, and a couple of updates that need to be reworked heavily. Mostly, I spent my free time at work watching Bones and now Psych. And at home, I've was playing Mirror's Edge. But now since installing the lighting mod in my game, I'm in a mood to do some creating/decorating of some outdoor areas. This'll be important later. I just want to take more outside pictures now in TS3, lol.

So before I start rambling on here, I will say that you'll want to read the latest chapter if you haven't already as this will deal with the behind the scenes stuff. There won't be any overt spoilers here, but there may be some extra clues, and there will be some extra talk about my intent with this latest chapter. So I forgot about this. Sometimes when I have trouble writing, but something is there, I talk myself through it. It's sort of silly, but I know I like seeing and hearing how others do things, so I figured I'd share here. I didn't really feel like writing, but at the same time there were some things I wanted to accomplish. This latest chapter was both important and not. It may not be something that's important in Paula's story, but it one of those moments I will confess links one story to another. That's sort of my intent a lot of the time. All the stories are meant to stand alone, but there are moments that will connect. Some will be obvious ones we'll run into again (like one moment I'm planning on coming up), and others will just have effects on moments we'll see later on. So here's what I actually started out with in my journal. The image was in my head, so I just started describing it to myself. I keep seeing/ feeling morning time. The morning after whatever happened with Aaron. Paula wakes up to the scent of something cooking. It's cold that morning and dark, very early. Henri is up cooking which surprises her.
"I'm not late am I"
"No, I'm leaving early." He looks uncomfortable in my head. Maybe he wasn't expecting her up. He was just going to leave food for her.
At some point Theresa shows up. Or was there all along?
I see her looking down her nose at Paula which is hilarious in a way because she's shorter. She doesn't approve and Henri has to scold her. It's clear she's jealous, but there's a little something more there.
Eventually Henri shoos her out. They have someone to meet.

I for one am fascinated with how you put the ideas -> journal -> chapter. It certainly does make sense. And getting it out can be important. I'm going to put it on my list of things to do to break writer's blocks.

I never thought of doing this to break my bleh moments or to fine-tune the chapters....I do something very similar in my outlines. I describe what should be happening in a short few sentences, and add my impressions or what I think it should accomplish. Very nifty to see this as a different sort of strategy!

I'm not prepared to update tomorrow. The entry is supposed to be a rewrite of a piece I wrote earlier-- a scene that came to me before things were really nailed down. (It happens so often like that. Something comes and I've gotta get it down, then by the time it's meant to make an entrance, things have usually changed.)
It is a lot like school. I'm sure that I'll get it done today and posted tomorrow. Maybe in the morning, maybe not. But I'm betting on I'll have it done by tonight.
Also, I'm behind on a lot of my reading. I'm still blaming Van and her Kingdom of Naroni for the most part.
Was there anything else? I'm not doing Nano(more appropriately called Glomo by DB). I just didn't have any other story ideas in mind. Still haven't been writing a lot, but I'm determined to stick to my deadlines. Still have quite a bit more to tell and I'm still not sure where the story ends!

I admit I read through the entries I linked to after I'd posted the newest chapter. Oops? Or maybe not.
It's been in my head for a long time that Vivian and Jimmy didn't stay in the apartment that The Incident happened. There is a lot of confusion around that whole event, and in a way that apartment is a black void for most everyone involved directly and indirectly.
But Brandon wasn't even conceived at the time of the incident, so he really wouldn't know. So I could look at this as an accident on my part, or I can accept that even my fictional characters are prone to misinformation. I normally make a point of it anyway, especially since I write from first person view so often. My first person narrators are not always to be trusted. They can make mistakes and hand out misinformation.
In a way, I can't help feeling this is a cop out, but I'm serious, lol.

I assumed that it was another old place, after the information you gave us at the end. That maybe Jimmy and Vivian moved to another place that happened to be near Henri's, but I didn't equate it with the apartment above--I don't think you've written yourself into a lie there.

Oh, I missed that you linked to a couple of older posts at the end of today's update. I was already planning on going back to read Chapter 29 again later on but I think I'll have to read the other two posts too.

Rachel, oh good, lol. I'm pretty much figuring that'd be exactly how it would go. Brandon would probably never even know the apartment was there, still intact. I get the feeling that they simply just never went back. And it's possible that Henri hasn't always lived there, but I don't know yet.
Carla, oh maybe that explains some things. This entry was just very difficult all around, especially for me to write. Last night when I was supposed to be getting pictures, I was demanding Jay distract me. Poor man. "Because you don't want to work on your update you want my attention?" "Yes. Now please. *looks stern*"

Oh wow, I think that might be the eeriest thing I've ever seen. Beautiful cinematography though. I can't wait to see what this is the inspiration for in your story!

So creepy and...really sad. All that work just crumbling, rusting.
Like Laura, I can't wait to see what this means for your story!

I read up on the park and looked at pictures while doing my whole urban exploration abandoned places research.
Thank you for the video! It's lovely and inspiring.
Can't wait to see what you do with that feeling.

*still shudders at that video* That's definitely got me doing lots and lots of thinking. It started with that, then looks at the villages surrounding the Chernobyl disaster (and more information on that). That lead me to this site. Today I watched 28 Days Later. I am in a very creepy mood! It's got me asking all sorts of questions about Ruin. All sorts! And the questions are fun to answer. Like what's the rest of the world outside of their land mass like? Also, I have been thinking very hard about the story of the Two Brothers. My subconscious at work there again. Dropping clues all over that story. I find I want to talk about it, but I need to hold back because I don't know if any of that stuff will make it into the story or not. This whole world has a story to tell, and at the same time, the focal point are the people. The people's story tells the story of the world-- or at least it probably will at some point. Ack! *rolls around in nerdy glee* I ended up running ideas past Jay to see if they made sense, and he seemed to accept them. He's the sort who's nit-picky about details, so if something was weird, he'd say so or ask for clarification. I have a research topic for me that should be fun involving languages and world history. But I've been meaning to study some of that forever.

Oooh!
I looked at Chernobyl stuff too - oh darn.
I was going to say I could send you some of my bookmarks, but that was pre-reinstall. Still - I could look around, see if I could find them in Windows.old or just find the sites again. Would that be cool or helpful or should I shut up? *doesn't want to make social mistakes because she's ignorant of social stuff*

Oh yes, I'd be grateful is you have links, but I don't want you to go through too much trouble! I've found it hard to find good sites for the most part without going through some really heart breaking stuff. I just want to see the buildings, y'know?

Okay. I HATE zombies. Unfortunately zombie stories are sort of the thing I need right now. Zombie stories always involve the population at large turning on itself and leaving destroyed and abandoned buildings in its wake. Survivors band together living out of these structures, trying to find a new way to live amidst the chaos since they're some of the few people left alive and have no real way of being sure any help is coming to save them. Yeah, that sounds pretty familiar. So other than starting to watch the Walking Dead (while whining on Twitter about it), I got a link a day or so ago to The Zombie Podcast- We are Alive. First thoughts in my head-- When would I have time to listen to this? And what would I do while listening? I can't even sit through a TV show without doing something! Well, I downloaded the MP3s of the first two chapters today and put them on my DS. Wow! Seriously wow! I was drawn in from the get go. The story is completely made up of dialog and sounds. It's another one that's mostly about the people rather than the zombies as they deal with the event as it happens. I seriously sat down for about two hours listening to the first two chapters (separated into six parts). Still-- zombies. *ickickick*
