Someone else correct me if I'm wrong, but I think recreating in CAS is best... if she travels on a lot already played, she could bring memories of the sims in a previous hood and create random faulty characters... unless you go through a time-consuming process of cleaning out all the memories... so its probably just easier and safer to recreate her in each hood.

Yes, Blackcat, that's right. I'd also recommend against the lot travel. I think creating her (and any possible family members or traveling buddies) in CAS would be much safer for all of our neighborhoods. We can even swap CC, like hairstyles or clothing if we want to keep a similar look or whatever. Of course then she starts fresh with no memories each time. I have lots of tips and tricks for recreating quick and easy faux memories in your neighborhoods if you're the type of player that likes to play by wants and such. I often fake fights in gameplay that happen only on the storytelling level so that both my story and my gameplay are on the same page. For example, to start, if you think she's still heartbroken over Jack, then you could take one of your townies who looks kind of like him, use the SimBlender to jack up their relationship, then have him break up with her. Then, voila, you have a version of Samantha who is heartbroken! Or likewise if you want your story to focus around her issues with her mother, or her father, or whoever she might meet in her travels, you just jack up their relationship with that "placeholder" Sim, then have them fight... then whenever she thinks of that townie, you can pretend it's the actual character they're supposed to represent. Does that make sense? LOL, it's a lot less work than that probably makes it sound like

Oh, clever! I love that idea! I'm not sure if I'll use it when my turn comes - it'll depend on what she gets up to in Riverdale, I guess.

I just did that earlier this month when I started my hood over. I needed some history to carry over. I used Insiminator though, took about two shakes to get memories/friendships modified the way they were in my old hood.
I'll do it with Samantha too, depending what goes on in the previous hoods leading up to mine.

Looking forward to seeing what you'll do with Samantha, Lunar's post was really nice and it'll be fun to see what happens to her as she travels around 'hoods.
I'm thinking of adding her to Harrington, not as part of the challenge (I'm far too irregular to do that) but as an unoffical thing, but I keep forgetting to download her! Oh well, will just have to set up the rest of the newbies and get through the last household instead and remember to add her the next time I'm gearing up to play!

Sorry, it's been a busy few days-the hubby is leaving for a 4-6 week international assignment and grad school apps are due for me. I now this is late, but I'm fine with the shorter stay near the end.
Definately travel via CAS, unless you like corrupt files

hey Laura, what are we going to do about the 3 open slots? Recruit people from other blogs by private messaging them?

Ah-ha, I guess that deadline is tomorrow then, huh? No need to recruit or anything. I think we've got plenty of people. It'll probably work better with nine than twelve. We'll just add that time to other slots. So I guess that's about 18 months up for grabs. First come, first serve You guys could split it up too, if you wanted, like three different people take 6 months more, or something.

Oh you could assign the remaining time slots. Would Sam ever go back to a hood she visited earlier? That's an option for arranging the remaining time besides adding time to the existing members.

Oooh, that could be fun! That could make for a fascinating storyline, maybe someone she left behind that she wishes she hadn't! The only issue I could imagine would be timeline paradox - since we don't all update at the same pace, when she got back, her time away might not be the same as the hood time passed since she's been away, you know? We could very well just leave those slots open for now, and let the story evolve as it wants to. Maybe she ends up going back somewhere, or maybe she even decides to stay in one place for longer than she anticipated. Good ideas!

Leaving the slots open works as well, then as Sam moves along, a hood has the option to extend their time with her or even replay her.

I can take a little extra time, actually, if it's needed.
I kind of want to, lol!

Hi Laura, I have another question.
You said you would like to end the project by the end of September 2010, right?
So that's about 8 months and 1 week from now. And she has 8 other locations to go to (at least for now.)
So I was wondering if you would know when I would be getting her? I dont want to rush, but I also don't want to leave other people no time.
I guess I'll send an email to lunar too!

Bbop, I'm only keeping her for this month, so I'll be done with her by next week.

Billy, that's not really a firm date, just an estimate. Things are pretty flexible here on my end. But it looks like you got your answer
