Thought I'd start up a thread to list all the Hacks, Mods, Utilities that make the storytelling life a little easier. Feel free to add any you come across to this growing list. Let's start with some of the more well known ones: AwesomeModChaos Mod PaintingInstall Helper Monkey*Remember to back up before installing these and use them at your own risk. Some of the mods provide troubleshooting but be aware that not all of them do. See the actual mod pages for information.

Oh good one, I was thinking about this just today. In addition to the Chaos painting and AwesomeMod, I use Twallan's Supercomputer. Handy mod. You can add and remove skills, including the hidden skills. You can use the dresser option and edit in CAS which is a little handier than AwesomeMod's edit because you just click on the sim rather than type out the cheat.

I prefer Twallan's supercomputer and storyteller mods compared to awesome mod. Awesome always bogged down my computer. I got errors almost every game session. With Twallan's mods things run a lot smoother and I rarely have errors.
That being said, you can't do trogdorstrikesagain with Twallan's mod, but if I need to destroy my Sims in a fiery inferno, I know where to find it.
I also use mods from Modthesims which allows me to have more than the normal amount of party guests, garden a lot faster, do homework faster, and use the sinks and mirrors much faster. Personally, I'd rather have my Sims interacting than doing the mundane tasks. For storytelling, it helps not to be gardening for 8 hours straight.

OMG-- more awesomeness by ChaosMageX! FoodeX for greater control over making the food. (Oh how I needed this a while ago. Had to have other sims in the house helping to prep for the scene, lol.) The Chaos Carrier which is meant to mimic the Prop Hack from TS2. I can't wait to try this one. And of course you know that means that the Chaos Mod Painting has been updated! Now with crying and other greater control over animation timing and loops.

I keep resisting the use of mods (the only one I'm using right now is Shimrod's no martial arts clothing). But I'm getting more and more tempted.....
I'll probably do it soon...but I might wait until after they've been tested with the Ambitions EP, because I'll be getting that, and would hate for it to be even buggier than usual because I have a mod installed.

We've got OMSPs, new fangled OMSPs, and a vanishing script which allows for invisible furniture! I'm going to mess with the OMSPs to see if I can't get sims to stand or sit on them. I doubt it, but I'll still give it a try.

Wahoo, great find, thelunarfox! OMSPs and invisible furniture, I can see it now...

OOOH! You CAN put sims on the new fangled OMSPs! I had a sim sitting crossed legged on a couch like I always wanted! Then my game crashed before I could get a picture. I'm not sure if it's the vanishing script, but it seems to happen when I play with the vanishing objects.

Ooooh! This could be so amazing. But I'm SO bad with this sort of stuff if it doesn't work right away on its own... I need to work on my modding skills.

Thanks so much, thelunarfox, for posting about the OMSPs. I played with this a bit today, and it is lots of fun.
I was able to balance a glass of nectar precariously on a meteor rock, and make a cluttered table. : )

Okay, another awesome new hack! The Relativity! It adds a prompt to in game clocks that allow you to adjust the flow of time. Since Sims 3 light is so delicate, and we do get different light now for sunny and cloudy days, I find this really handy for story tellers.

The Relativity looks like a really good tool, but also a little scary. There's so much you c an do with it I feel like I'll break something accidentally fiddling with it.

It's not so bad actually. I've been playing with it and come back with tips in case anyone wants to use it. These are things that actually had me a little scared, lol.
Okay, so if you stop time, doors won't shut. That actually came in handy for some pics I think. Also, if you stop time, sims cannot teleport. Almost scared myself this morning until I thought about the door thing. So some things are more tied into time than you realize.
Otherwise, most things occur like normal.

I tried it and I can't get it to stop time, only go very slowly. Doors close, but it takes awhile. And I also noticed it takes forever for sims to drive away in cars and when cooking they don't seem to ever finish.
But it is a great tool. I can have it be almost sunset for hours while I get my photos just right for example.

Silly question, but did you set it to zero?
Interesting about the cooking and the driving! Weird the things tied into time. That's all handy to know.

I tried setting it to zero and it didn't work. Weird.

For people who've updated to LN and are waiting for a Chaos Mod update, something else to try out is the Nraas DeBug Enabler. It does pretty much everything CM does, plus a lot more!

I only want Chaos for the expressions and animations, which I don't *think* debug enabler does - does anyone know if the old chaos painting will still work with LN installed (I can live without LN animations for now)?

Not yet - I've been checking other hacks at the moment - so far all good.
No Zzzs, no musical notes, no autonomous sprinkler, no slap effects.
I'll put the chaos painting on my list of hacks to check today, and let you know.
