Lakeside Heights is a serialized neighborhood drama, illustrated with the Sims 2. This dark-comedy/drama/romance follows the lives of a handful of families living on the shores of Lake Michigan in the later parts of the 21st century. Yes, very slight sci-fi elements (we've got some aliens up in here!), but I'd really probably just call it contemporary fiction. With a literary slant. And some funny, and a few boxes of tissues, and a good bit of *swoon*, and shenanigans in the bathrooms, people, I'm telling you! The specific content warnings are posted on the blog, but note that this story is meant for mature readers (17+). It's a long story, and has been going strong for over two years now, so you can just jump in, or start from the beginning, or start in the middle, or backwards. You can even read it like a wikipedia if you like. (No, for real, you can!) Newbie's start here. Story updates generally happen once a week, usually Sunday nights. Babble happens here.Twitter feed for updates and bite-sized LH babble. Welcome to Lakeside Heights. And thank you for letting me share my stories with you!

One of the most detailed, beautiful, take your breath away works of art I've ever read. You will get sucked in and you won't get out!!!

Laura I wanted to leave a comment on your story but I am nowhere near up to speed yet. This piece was powerful! I just don't want to leave a reaction when I don't know all the players.

Oh my goodness, totally worth the wait.
It's so crazy, how familiar Amelia's feelings are--I had the very same realization a few years ago, and it was jarring. Too many people in my life had fallen short of my expectations, and it wasn't so much my fear of being hurt as it was of me someday hurting someone else like that. Learning to never say never in that situation is...a horrible lesson.
Beautiful. And I'm commenting here because for some reason I can't comment on your blog.

Beth, thank you! Gayl, I totally understand! Take as much time as you need to catch up, because there's a LOT of it, lol! But thank you! I worked extra hard on this one, so that means a lot! Rachel, ack @ Blogger! It's so fickle sometimes! Thank you though! I think the horrible lessons are usually the most important ones to learn. Glad it was worth the wait! Illandrya, it works out that way a lot of the time, huh? None of us live in bubbles. I love exploring the way things work out, from one action to another to another. Makes these stories a lot of fun to tell!

New stuff for you this weekend! ;D First, a little bit of spam: avatars and wallpapers. Yesterday, we kicked off our second term of elections, which promises to be light and humorous: Elections 2083!And then today I have this little mini story piece for you, which unfortunately is neither light or humorous: "one day, on the basketball court"Such is the balance of life?

Commented. Oh btw - thankyou for Naked Corbin! (A much more serious comment is on the blog). But I didn't want to cover your blog in drool. Am I terrible for drooling after an angsting man?

Angsty men are the best to fantasize about, Kiri. Especially the ones with er...aesthetically pleasing bodies. It's so funny, though, because he really does have a big nose. Yet he's still attractive!

he does! But big noses mean big other appendages so I think it just adds to the charm.

You're welcome, for naked Corbin, lol! It was my pleasure! LOL! Corbin's nose is an entity in and of itself, isn't it? lol! Before I brought him into the story, I wondered if I should edit it, but then I couldn't bring myself to touch it. I love distinguished noses, and his is certainly distinguished, lol! Corbin's body though - that's a work of digital art, lol! Even the "fit" default body shape is too thin at the arms and shoulders for someone who does yoga all day. So I usually do a little work on him there. I had this same problem with Tyler. But at the same time, I just don't like any of the other athletic men's bodyshapes I've seen out there, or most of the clothing that they come with either. I was actually thinking about teaching myself to mesh so I could just make custom body meshes for some of my characters. As much as I truly do enjoy Photoshopping naked Corbin (lol!), it would save me a bunch of work. Then I could do some of my other characters as well. I'd love to see some thicker guys, or women with hips and thighs (without the corseted little Barbie waist)! Some ladies with flatter or larger chests. Oh, I'm so envious of TS3 body sliders!!! SO ENVIOUS!

I like Corbin's nose and love your latest chapter!!!
After having run through a variety of bodyshapes, I completely sympathize. The 'athletic' bodytype warps. The bodybuilders are only appropriate for a few characters. Everything else, you just have to deal. You did a fantastic job!
