Hi! I'm guessing this is where I introduce myself?
I'm Van. Some of you might recognize me if I've commented on your stories or if you regularly participate in the weekly discussions on Beth's blog. I'm a sophomore in university with the intention of getting a BA/BFA in Creative Writing. I'm a bit of a recluse in real life--not really out of shyness, mainly just because I'm kind of a square peg in a round hole and people don't really take to me all that well--so I spend most of my spare time writing.
Currently, my writing falls into three categories: school assignments, novels, and Sims 2 stories. I tend to put most of my effort into the novels (though you wouldn't really know it, because I'm constantly scratching entire works and starting afresh) so my Sims 2 writing is, regretfully, a bit lazy. I have no desire to stop working on my Sims stories, though--they're sort of my "recreational" writing, the fun stuff that I can just work on without having to worry too much about chasing any elusive sparks. Also, I've met a ton of amazing people through Sims stories, mine and theirs, so it's definitely been a good experience
I have four active Sim stories as of right now, three on Blogger and one on Wordpress. I'll post links and blurbs in a new thread under the designated topic pronto.
These days, I'm almost exclusively reading online work. If I start a book, I pretty much have to read it to the end in one sitting, which obviously interferes with my schedule now that I'm at a point in my education which actually requires some effort on my part. Online stories such as Sim stories suit my needs perfectly because once I'm caught up, I can just read as they're updated--not taking any large chunks of time out of my day, but still enjoying quality literature. In fact, I actually find I enjoy Sim stories more than books these days; they're self-published, which gives a sense of being closer to the author, reading pure words undistorted by editors and publishing companies. Kind of silly, I know, but I'm a bit weird that way
Hmm... not really sure what else there is to say about myself. Like I said, I'll post links to my stories in a separate thread under the appropriate heading. Meanwhile, I'm honored to have been invited to this forum and am very happy to meet all of you. I look forward to checking out your work
