Hey everyone, I hope this is in the right section, if not sorry feel free to move it Anyway, I'm currently using livejournal to host my legacy story but I've seen a few that are hosted on wordpress. What I would like to know is which do people find easier to use? Are there any major differences/features on one? Or are they just both equal in most areas?

Obviously, I'm going to recommend Wordpress because I hate LJ. I did recently create an LJ but only to follow a few blogs on there and for commenting purposes.
BUT, setting my bias aside, it depends what you're looking for.
I like the clean wordpress styles. Although customisation is very limited (you can change headers/banners but you can't really fiddle with CSS or the html unless you fork out money for it), if you want something easy and fast to set up, WP is the way to go.
It also comes with 3GB of image space (which is a bonus compared to Blogspots 1GB limit). Most people don't even use half of that space but it's nice to know it's there. It means you don't have to deal with the likes of imageshack, photobucket or other third party image hosts.
I might point out too that all this is free.
Posting is easy and designed to be user friendly. You don't even have to code unless you really really want to.
Also, you can set static pages (like on websites; Info, Links, Etc.) And you get to arrange your widgets any way you please.
Have a look at some of the existing WP blogs around and see if you like the set up.
With LJ, you can achieve a similar effect but it'll require some shifting around and doing things backwards (posting a future date entry as a sticky for say the introduction page and posting your chapter index on the profile page or on the future date entry sticky page.)
Hopefully, I haven't confused you by this point.

Thanks for the information. I have seen a few wordpress layouts and I do like them but I just wondered if it was a hassle or pay thing really to set-up.
Are the widgets and static pages free or do they come at an extra cost?

Nope, if you are using wordpress.com it's completely free. You only have to pay if you want to do major customisation to your layout but there's really no need to do that as most of the default layouts are rather nice actually.
Widgets, static pages, it's free.
Wordpress.org is the one that costs money and you need your own domain for but wordpress.com is the free version.
You just create an account and then create your blog and that's pretty much it. Much like LJ in that sense.

Valley is on WordPress and then I have a sort of behind the scenes journal on LJ. WordPress is so much easier and smoother and more user friendly. But LJ is popular and there's a lot of Sims communities on there. So that's why I have both.

I'm mostly on LJ because of the communities there. I have my own domain with a wordpress client and yes, it is very easy to use. I would recommend it. If you don't mind the general shittiness which is LJ, then I would also recommend it just for the community aspect of it. There are a lot of templates, and if you get a paid account you could customize those templates (though coding it is sort of clunky, IMO). The *only* reason I'm on LJ is because a lot of my favourite simmers are on it.

Wow, I must be in the minority. I really like Blogger, and I find it easy to navigate. Plus, I like the fact that you can pretty much customise almost everything. I love making my own graphics (even I'm not a pro at creating whole css style sheets for said graphics to go in). In all honesty, I only went with Blogger because of a few sims stories that I came across. A lot of the same Blogger templates are also WP templates, which is nice, but if you can only change bits and pieces with WP, then I'll stick with my Blogger.

I'm actually with MM. I've been an LJ user for five years now-- my personal blog is on LJ. But I've really found blogger to be much easier to use. There are plenty of layouts for it that are free. If you're up for it, it's easy to modify those layouts for something more personal. I usually swap out background images as an easy way to customize.
I also went with Blogger originally because of the blogs I'd found. Plus, I find it handy that Google reader is built into blogger, so I can go to my dashboard and see what's updated with a quick look.

I have used Blogspot for years and I generally like it, a lot. The customisation is fantastic but the image limit is what sent me back to WP - that and I do like WP better.
MM/Lunar, there is a site called Quite Random which has a heap of WP themes converted for Blogger. Quite interesting site when it works.

Thanks for the heads up, Carnaxa! I'll Google it!
Also, I haven't used Blogger's photo hosting. I presize my images to 500x375 and upload them to Photobucket. I haven't noticed too much of a compression issue with those images, at least not at home. At work, there is some slight pixelation when I pull it up on the iMac, but that's about it. Otherwise, the compression must be so minimal that you just overlook it.

I chose to use WordPress for my blog because I was required to use it for a project back in grad school, and it was familiar to me. There are a lot of themes, but be careful. Some of them don't let you have very much leeway with the widgets. All in all, though, I'm very pleased with it. I love the big storage space!
Oooooo, do I spy another Mac user? Yay!

I am google blogger all the way myself. I found it so easy. I cannot understand LJ to save my life. I have an account there, only because I comment on a story or two there. never tried wordpress.
I use google's photo hosting service, picasa, no complaints. But then, I don't fuss with my shots much, use the in-game j-pegs, and just resize them on blogger to 600x450.

I use both Livejournal and Wordpress. I don't know why, but I enjoy crossposting all of my stories to both sites. I only have one Livejournal that contains all of my simming stories and I've made separate Wordpress blogs to hold each of my stories.
I must say that I'm impressed with the ease of usability for WordPress. It took me a while to get the hang of posting on Livejournal (I'm still figuring things out and I've been on the site nearly six years), but I took to posting on WordPress almost instantly.
