As you may or may not be aware - I'm building sunrise island from the ground up. I'm using Tenterfield, NSW, Australia as a similiar sized town for inspiration to make the town look as rural Australia as I can.
So first up - this is the picture of the building I'm trying to create similiarly. It's been converted into offices now - but back when I lived in Tenterfield, it was the local pub.
The first problem I had with creating it - is that there aren't any walls where the bottom part goes up high enough... so I found a template tutorial and made a new wall:
I'll put it up on my site when I've finished the building (I'll put both the lot, and the bits and pieces I've created to make it work up together.)
It's a half-wall dado. And I think way more useful than the 1/3 dado wall that we have by EA.
This is where I'm up to - as you can see, it's just a shell. I don't have the right windows or doors, although the windows are way closer than the doors are.
I need to find a better ceramic brick texture - which I may end up making myself. If I can't find one.
I think that there's a matching set for that window at TSR which will help me out with the lower section, but I'm not too sure about the door I need for the upper section.
I'll be using Sandy's Bar set inside, with some of the Late Night EA objects.
And I think I'll have to be making my own posters for inside as well. We have old vintage beer posters with cricketers, and footballers on them, and montages of the band posters of all the bands that have ever played in the pub.
In the old days, there was a separate area for the women to drink, but nowadays that area has been converted into an attached restaurant. Modern pubs generally have a pokey machine area - but I'm going to leave that out.
Upstairs was single rooms for patrons and guests to spend the night. If the town is too small for a motel - and many towns are, then the pub is the place where people can stop for a night or two on their way through.
I'm not sure how I'm going to do that here.
