Dear Rachel,
I naturally left a comment on your site. But I also want to make one here. You certainly did set 'certain things' in motion and I love you for it! It can be daunting to start new twists so near to closure. You've got the courage and genius to see it through! I'm looking forward to new Edith Prescott Tales as stated before, but wrapping up a mystery story properly is admirable and desired. Maybe they won't get Hector Durante straight away, but the way you are tying up loose ends about Iris' disappearance, finding her back and hopefully Daley being brought to justice is simply superb!!!

Moondaisy: As always, thank you! I'm trying to be patient and take the time to reveal the answers to all the really pressing questions of this story. It can be difficult to sort through which things are appropriate to reveal now, and which things should be left for later. My instinct is to rush through this last part and get to the fun stuff (starting a new story arc), but I'm trying to keep that part in check.

I left a comment on your blog but just wanted to say again, just when I think I've figured it out, you throw in a twist. It's fantastic.

Carnaxa: thank you! I wonder if I overuse them? I think I do. I'm blaming it on the newness of the story--the fact that I'm establishing characters, and that it is from Ed's (necessarily limited) point of view. It's hard to make predictions when you don't know enough about a situation or about the people acting in them, and Ed is a fallible being. I'm really glad you like it, because I admire your writing and your characters so much. It's always gratifying when other writers in our community like my stuff, because I'm so blown away by their writing. It helps with my insecurities about my writing and how interesting my story is, etc.

A hearty round of applause for you and for Ed! I admire the balance you achieved between closure of the story and opening of the series.

You're quite welcome. : )
I think I will be able to have something up by next week. I was working on writing up the first chapter to my story a few hours ago and realized that I had a bunch of huge plot holes that needed filling. (I'm beginning to wonder if I'm beginning to over-organize, haha.)

Aw! I already commented on your blog, but I have to say a little word here too! You wrote a wonderful piece! One I will enjoy reading time and time again! It drew me in from the start with its everyday simplicity. But soon the plot thickened and I found myself thinking (worrying even) about Ed and the adventure she landed in. I thought the end was extremely satisfying - nothing has come to a complete circle and that's just fine! I don't want it to end... Thanks for giving me hours of pleasure reading your story.

Oh thank you Moondaisy!! You are so wonderful with your thoughtful comments--it made me extra careful when it came time to start wrapping things up, and that made the story tighter.

Read the entire story this afternoon, on a snowy day, and I absolutely love it!
Wonderful combination of plot and character! I had to slow down and read all the way through each chapter because I wanted to KNOW what was going to happen!
Really looking forward to what you do with this.

Oooo what an unexpected way to start the next story! I like the new character. The set reminds me a tiny bit of one on the USA Network show Monk that just ended.
~very excited about Ed's next adventure~
