Warning: Rant ahead
GRR! GRR!! GRRRRRRRRRAH!!!
You know, I've been struggling to decide what the next scene of
The Gang should be and I put up a poll on the latest UPdate of
Sounds of Hell. Well...that's going great so far; however, I am totally pissed at TS3. I'm just hating it, everything about it. It just makes me so angry. Oh nothing's happened to the game. Everything is in order, but...[taking deep breath and letting it out slowly]...I feel that I'm not in control of the Simmies and I need that control. I don't believe that TS3 was made for us storytellers, but more for the gaming purposes. Yes, I know, it's a game. It was made to be played as a game...ladeeda.
For you all to know, I have the story progression whatever turned off, is it really off when the game is being played? Not really, it acts like the mechanics that I used to turn it off are invisible. Free will is off, at least that works properly.
Here is another problem. I have TS2 and TS2 works so well...even after the crashing and such...the crashing wasn't TS2's fault though so I'm not angry at it. It is a storyteller's dream to have TS2...mainly because the use of poseboxes and such. There's no story progression bullshit. It's hunky dory.
I had an itch of an idea the other day and it is really good temptation.
The Gang is no where near completion so I can't just kill it and TS3...but could I convert it? Oh, I have the Simmies for it (and the technology). I know it wouldn't be the same to readers/viewers. I would probably get really bad reviews for awhile and confused people. "Wait a minute, I thought this was a TS3 story?" It
was. "What happened?" I sort of threw TS3 out of a window.
Do you think it's believable? I do.
What makes this even better...or worse depending on whose point-of-view...
13pumpkin has all the Simmies I would need. She basically has all of
The Gang TS2 styled. See temptation is a devil, a really pretty, nice, and shiny one too.
This didn't all blow over just the other day though...I have regreted making
The Gang in TS3 since
Without Doubt. You ask, why didn't you end there then? Well...once I start something I have to finish it. TS3 is becoming a burden to me, which obviously makes me hate it worse. I don't like it. I hate loading it. I hate waiting through all of the mechanics.
Problem A: My Simmies are all so beautiful in TS3. For the most part they all look how I imagine them. I like how the "skin" hangs off of the "bones;" whereas, in TS2 the "skin" is the "bones."
Problem B: Lots of freakin recreation. Not like I'm already doing that, right?
Problem C: Custom design tool is aMAZing.
Problem D: How many readers/viewers do I have that will probably be very VERY angry....?
Also, I would not be an idiot and start a story with TS3 and end it with TS2. That's just silly and not a good silly either. I would recreate each and every one of the pictures that I took for each and every one of the chapters thus far.
You're probably thinking "that's too much damn work. You're just going to burden yourself further. I would just stick with TS3 and finish the story." Not really, is my answer. There's only one house in my TS3 and that's the Saiders' house. Copy floor plan down and prestoe! Also, again, the story is no where near finished. I mean...I wouldn't be surprised to go onto 100 chapters.
The Gang is very complicated and full of different characters with several problems, stretching over a complex amount time.
Taking screenshots hard? No. I am a master of camera angles. It would not offend me to take pictures. I quite enjoy it.
Is all of this just because TS2 has poseboxes and TS3 does not? No, I lived without poseboxes before in TS2. Also TS3 has the Chaos painting, which I have used for several occasions in
The Shadow and
Subway Eat Now (which I'll complete before terminating my TS3 progression).
So what is that I do like about TS3? I don't not have a problem with the "pudding" face. I like that the bones are in the inside of the Sim, not an extoskeleton like in TS2. I like the body shaping. I like the custom design tool. I like that basement tool. I like the whole neighborhood feel (every now and then). I, for the most part, like the inside lighting. I like the set ups of build and buy mode. And, I do not have a problem with the TS3 music. It's okatie.
What do I not like about TS3? Story progression, lack of control of Sims, camera handling, outside lighting (it's horrible, your Sims get all fuzzy and crap. Note: my graphics are on high and still they're fuzzy), face sliders of hell, lack of story mode, loading process (sometimes), game launcher.
I will not put "lack of downloads." That's disrespectful, considering I cannot create my own stuff (because I+modding=disaster) and others work very hard to put out what they can. I appreciate the downloads I have thus far and congratz all the creators and a job well done.
Nothing in this rant is the "final word." I have not completely made up my mind, but, again, it is quite tempting.
Grr again.
