Two corporate type places I've worked give Thurs and Fri. The local college is closed all week. When I was in college, 95% of the students went home, even if it was so far they had to fly. The other 5% was wealthy and went on ski trips or something.

You know what's annoying me right now? Sim ageing.
So if I want a character that's say 4 years old, a toddler is a little young, but a child sim is a bit old. Or, and more pertinently at the moment, if I want 11/12 year olds child sims look too young (about 7/8 I'd say) and teen sims too old (about 15/16). Frustrating!

That IS frustrating. I guess pigtails or a similar hairstyle and childish clothes could "age down" a teen a little bit if you don't show a full body shot. As for a four-year-old, though, I can't think of many options other than close crops on hands or feet.
~curious if this is for Taken~

Although I was never a fan of pets EPs, I'm thinking it'd be useful to have one for photo shots. A few of my characters have pets.

Mainly looking at Lunar and Rachel here, but I want to have two characters sitting on the end of a bed chatting (not romantically) - any way I can do this? I tried sitting them on a sofa and using moveobjects but it didn't work - will those OMSP thingies do it?

Invisible bar stools. Get the script there and the furniture (comment 23 from me). You can probably also try invisible dining chairs and these fancy OMSPs. This will lift up bar stools surprisingly. I think they'll also lift regular dining chairs.

Yeah, what Lunar said. I'd go the invisible bar stool route. The OMSPs only seem to work on objects that take up one square--they won't work on sofas (unfortunately). You could also try the picnic blanket, though I haven't played with this one as much as Lunar has--maybe you could put a seated Sim on an OMSP that is bed-height. If not, you could trick us by recoloring the picnic blanket to match the bed blanket (maybe?).

Cheers guys, I didn't see these until I'd shot it (used the invisible sofa in the end) but will definitely try the bar stools next time!

Oooh, I'm very excited. I've been thinking a lot about how certain strands of the story are going to develop and I think I've cracked it. I'm thinking the current phase of the story probably has about 5-10 chapters left, and then we'll be roughly at the halfway point. I can't wait to let you in on some of the reasons why this is all happening and to take you inside The Council!

I loosely plotted out the list of chapters for Taken from now until the end... it's looking like it'll be 80 chapters long, or thereabouts. That's a lot of chapters still to write then!

Hi American friends - some more info required from you...
1) What do you call articulated lorries? Are they just trucks or something else? 2) What do you call service stations, and what are they like over there? (Here they have toilets, showers, petrol, convenience shops, places to eat, sometimes places to sleep) I'm thinking something more rural/small scale than we have in the UK.

1. Not sure if you're referring to big rigs or 18-wheelers, but that is what we call the trucks that haul freight or fuel.
2. They are called gas stations or convenience stories. They have restrooms, gas pumps and shops for snacks.
2a. Now that I think of it, you may be referring to what we call truck stops. they have places for the trucks to park, showers, restaurants, stores, gas pumps, etc.

Yes, a truck stop. That's what I thought it might be called. Thanks!
Are 'big rig' and 'eighteen wheeler' interchangeable as terms?

Yes, this coming from someone who worked in a hotel that catered to pretty much nothing but truckers. You can also shorten big rig to just rig and most people will know what you're talking about.
