So I've been trying to think of a prompt for a challenge.
Hmmm.
What about a story about an encounter with a creature from folklore? I admit this is inspired by the song "The Devil Went Down to Georgia".
It could be any length or style or medium you like.
Thoughts?
Err - one thought I had is that if you used the Sims, especially Sims 3, it might be hard to use anything but a humanoid creature.
I don't know, what do you guys think?

It could be done, although I agree that at this point in time, if we use our games, the characters would be humanoid. But, now there are contact lenses (of all things!) and hair and clothing that we could use to spruce them up, to make them otherworldly.
Would you prefer sim-based stories? Or just straight fiction?

If I can think of a way to make it work, I'd like to throw in a photo-based entry on this theme. Assuming that's OK. If not, speak up.
If I never reply to this thread again, you'll know I couldn't make my idea work. ;-)

So, I started writing a little piece for this project! Just thought I'd share. No photos as of yet. My hands got away from me and the words just kept coming.
Are we going to have deadlines?

It sounds like a good idea, the challenge. I probably won't use sims 3 for it though. Leaving it open in terms of medium allows people to choose which they prefer.
With regards to creatures in S3, there might be some creature skins around - I remember seeing a robot style one but for the life of me I can't recall where.

Sorry - my social anxiety got the better of me and I actually just looked at this thread today. Catherine - Of course that'd be okay! I am also still eagerly awaiting your idea for a picture-only challenge. MM - Either one is cool with me. Some of us might like a little break from Sims stories. I'm going to go with your idea of Halloween as a deadline. So yeah, here we go. All pictures or all text are both fine. Deadline - October 31st

Hey, that's fine with me! I like the idea of all text or all pictures for this first challenge. We can always broaden our horizons the next time.

Ooooh, oooh, I've had some really neat ideas for how I want to do my entry. Have I had time to do it yet? No. Will I get around to it soon? I hope so.
I'm pretty much just making a statement here so that folks (um . . . especially Stacy) will know that I'm still interested in this challenge. You know, new forum and all that, I want to do my bit to keep things moving.

Alrighty then, I've done it. I'm not super thrilled about how it turned out on my blog but I'm too nooby to know how to change the white background. If anyone can help me out on that, I'd be much obliged. The pictures themselves, though, I'm happy with. So, here it is: catherinesims3.wordpress.com/misc-sims-projects/guitar-lessons/I'm also too nooby to figure out how to make the link look all pretty so . . . yeah, advice sought on that, too. :-)

Catherine - it's the same as on Boolprop. If you put url=http://etc in square brackets, then the text than /url in square brackets it should work.
I'm definitely itching to have a go at this one I think.

Commented on the blog. Sorry that my comments suck, though. I wish I could comment like moondaisy, lol.

I have finally had a brainstorm for a story that mostly fits this challenge, but I don't know if I have enough time to get it done before the deadline. The ideas kept me awake for quite a while last night, bouncing around in my head.

OK, so it's way past pillow time, but I've managed to create four sets, all the characters, and about two thirds of the shots I'll need. Hopefully I can get it all put together by Monday night or maybe Tuesday. Three days late isn't all that bad, is it?
The downside is that I have been making free and easy with the cheats to stage what I want. I rarely ever use cheats when I play, and never in my legacy family, so it's going to be an adjustment when I go back to it.
Mine isn't as halloweeny as the others, which are awesome, by the way.

Hi all! Sorry! I'm late (and I rushed it a bit), but I hope you will have a look at my entry anyway. It's based on the Native-American legend "How the Man got into the Moon". Moon ManI hope you like it!

OK, here's my very late entry. It's on a new blog that I've just opened, so it's the only thing there so far. The Piscean Epilogue I'm tempted to make some explanations, but I think I'll just let it stand on its own. I'll answer questions if there are any.

Oooh, very nice: must have been hard to keep getting the same fish (or did you use a hack?). Is that based on a real fairy story/folk tale/legend?
