Having a few problems with the game...I guess. accidentally downloaded a Sim3pack (i deleted it and checked all files) but I have still had several crashes The "Custom Content" screen gets distorted...I have to open task manager, click on the Sims and it fixes it...but sometimes if I try to go into a house after that, it crashes. I found that if I open CAS first, it usually won't crash. Has any one else had this problem? Can any one give me an idea of what they think could be the problem...Thanks (if this was difficult to understand sorry...I have a 6 mo.old in my lap ;D)

Delete your cache files and see if that helps.

I don't understand what you mean by the "custom content screen gets distorted". This is Sims 2 you're talking about?

"Custom Content" screen is when the game loads and shows you a list of CC you have and you can enable or disable it. I do delete the group cashe folder every time. (I shead a lot of tears over that mean little file before I knew you had to delete it.)

Take out all new downloads from the time this started to happen. It sounds like you have a bad file.

See if your game will load w/o your downloads folder but don't go into your hood. You will break things if you do. Set up a test hood and then go through the long process of adding things back.

I'm still having problems. My game crashes when my "Group Cache" file is 13.1 If I can get past that then every thing is fine. Anyone have any thoughts or have this happen to you?

Dear 13pumpkin,
If you downloaded a Sims3pack, wouldn't it have to be installed via the Launcher? If you simply placed it in your TS2 downloads folder, ran the game, it crashed, then you should be able to just delete the .sims3pack and the game should run fine. It sounds like there is something else that is wrong here. Did you install any other .package downloads? Were they for TS3 by accident? (That's a biggy, it will kill your game. Just like if you put TS2 files into your TS3 directory..it will crash and burn and run very, very slowly)

Our system is, download files into a folder called "stuff/things to be compressed" extract the files there, delete files such as texts, pictures, etc, open compressor, compress, move stuff into downloads folder in My Documents/Sims2/Downloads. In this system we could catch a .sims3pack...but not a .package file. What she isn't adding is she has 30,000+ downloads and seeping through them as everyone knows is a nightmare!
Her screen does get distorted when loading the game after the intro movie. To fix it, she goes to the task manager and just remaximizes the game. The screen will be fixed. If she does not go to Create-A-Family and fiddle around in there so that the Group Cache gets past 13.1 MB, the application will crash. Her game runs very smoothly during and after the Group Cache grows past 13.1 MB...
I'm not sure what's going on...usually in TS2 it's obvious to find what the problem is.

Delphy's Dashboard can spot TS2 packages from TS3. I'm just wondering... if there's a way of using it to spot the TS3 packages?
Cause it certainly sounds like that there are TS3 packages in there.
Also - do you delete the cache files before you run? It may be that the cache files are corrupt.
Also - I'd do a defrag, and a diskcheck - because if it's crashing after the cache goes past 13.1MB then it could be a bad sector on your hard drive, or a fragmented file problem.

I'll try defraging...I haven't tried that yet I do delete cache files before I turn my game on every time (if I don't, my game won't run at all). When it crashes at 13.1, my game runs fine and with no worries of crashing after that, except I still have to go into CAS first (any house, in any neighborhood will crash the game at 13.1). Thank you for you feedback...I'll let you know if it works
