Well, I'm starting this thread because I don't want to create another blog post because I feel like I've been spamming my own LJ ... but GUYS!! MY GAME HAS BEEN WORKING AGAIN!!!! ::does the happy charlie brown dance:: (...I know you're all visualizing that right now, too...) I'm so friggin happy though. Oh man. I might get to squeak a couple pictures into this next update after all!! And in writing this chapter... I have realized how incredibly inept I am at knowing what the hell happens when one goes into labor... >_< But BELIVE YOU ME. When I have kids, my writing will be THAT much stronger lol.

That's awesome that your game is behaving itself! Did you do anything to fix it or are you just lucky?

That's awesome that your game is behaving itself! Did you do anything to fix it or are you just lucky? It was more or less just my computer having cooling issues. I am going to be buying a new one around tax time, but for now, the computer needs a fan blowing directly INTO the hub for it to function. But it seems to have solved the problem for now, which is a wonderful thing PS... HI CARLA!!!!!!! ((hugs))

If it's a cooling issue - you know about the fps limiter that can stop your graphics card from overworking?

www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?PHPSESSID=35f1b7ed3b6225434e250b4e213c5823&topic=15092.0Overheating is a huge issue with TS3. Basically what happens, is that although the eye can only see 30 Frames per second, the game generates many, many more frames, but the game engine also only uses 30 frames a second. So you get 30-400 frames being generated by the graphics engine, but only 30 frames are unique - all the rest are duplicates. (Depending on how powerful your CPU is) But of course, it costs energy to create all those duplicates, and the graphics engine does them from scratch - hence the graphics card overheats, and the computer has a meltdown. Now, I'm not sure this happens with TS2, but I know for me - that having the FPS limiter set to 30 fps, before I start the game, has really helped my machine's heating, and hasn't made any difference to the quality of the game.

Oh my lord... that sounds exactly like what's been happening to me!!! I tried it but it wouldn't load the sims,... I think it's because I play in-window. When I try to load the game from the start-folder it never loads, I have to click on my desktop icon to get it to start. I think that's interfering with the fps, so I will have to try and figure out how to do that, too. But wow you are my hero for pointing me in this direction... thank you SO much Kiri!!!

Fun Facts about Chapter 43: Anything Like Me... ((caution, here be spoilers!!!)) + I wrote this in approximately 10 hours, give or take, over the course of like, a week and a half. I had trouble with coming up with how to proceed with it, even though it's been "planned" since the last update. + The title comes from the song "Anything Like Me" by Brad Paisley. Look up the lyrics, they're really sweet. + The (three?) pictures were posed in a completely different neighborhood, as are all of my hospital/doctor scenes... I guess just because that's where I built the damn set, but otherwise there's no real reason as to why I do it that way. They are named Claire and Colton DocHospital so that I can keep them straight. + Devyn went through four name changes before I finally settled on the one I gave her. When she was born she was named Danica, but I hated that so I changed it to Della. I was committed to Della right up until about an hour before posting the chapter, when I decided to name her Devon, but I keep reading it as "Dee-Vahn" and I hated that, so I changed it to Devin but still didn't like it. I found the spelling of Devyn on BehindtheName.com and suddenly she had a voice. So I went with Devyn. + My husband still has a huge problem with the name Devyn. He thinks it sounds too masculine. It really irks him when I start calling her "Dev" Other than that he is still a strong supporter. I told him not to worry, that I don't actually want to name my daughter Devyn lol. + Originally Claire and Colton were going to know they were having one of each. I had planned that they were going to tell the family, and then have the babies at the end of the chapter, and all would be hunky-dory. That changed within five minutes of sitting down to write it, and I created the conflict of making it a surprise for EVERYONE but them. + At this point, I was still committed to them knowing they were having one of each, which is why Claire asks "Who is it?" when Donovan was born. Then, once I had chosen the name Devyn, I thought of throwing in the added surprise that they were told they were going to have TWO boys, and so had chosen the name Devon for their second son. + The picture of them holding the two babies was so. incredibly. hard. I had to time it so that one baby would be fussing (the one Claire is holding) and the other would be content. In order to get Donovan to fuss, I had to deplete BOTH of the babies' hygiene levels, but there was no way for me to only deplete just ONE of them, so they both started fussing at the same time. I had to wait three cycles (and hope to PETE that the social worker didn't come! Although not sure if they do for something like hygiene...) before I could finally get a moment of Donovan fussing and Devyn content. Then I had to pause and angle the heck out of both of them, shrink Colton down below the floor, pose and take the picture in buy mode. + The fact that she had twins blows my mind. I hadn't planned on twins, I was only hoping for a boy first (wanted Donovan for a while). When it popped up saying she was having twins I almost fell off my chair. I have no idea how this family is still getting twins, but it's true... See for yourself. When I am in the household I don't utilize any of my cheats or hacks, but for the most part my sims haven't really "lived" for a while, because I just use them for posing purposes. This was when I got to actually play with them to let her have her babies :3

Oh, wow, love reading all the behind the scenes stuff! By the way, I'm pretty sure social workers won't come for low hygeine - just low hunger and low social (and failing grades for the big kids).
I'm so with you on the babies! Doing any kind of posing with babies is always an exercise in frustration! There's so little you can do with them, so you really need to work hard to get anything interesting or specific.

Ahahaha...For some reason I found it incredibly amusing that Claire is thinking about sex all the while she's about to pop the babies. (Saw the picture....seems Sims have sex on the brain even while they're giving birth, I've noticed. )

Just letting you know that I've finally started reading your story ... at entirely the wrong time. I've read the first bit up until where you've done the synopsis of what I've just read ... um... I think it's Oct 09 or something? I'm really touched and moved by Claire and Colton's story. Editted to add: But I'm going to be AFK for the next fortnight so I won't find out what happens next until next year!!!

This is probably in the wrong thread, but it's relative. Does anyone here know how to change the orientation of a mesh? I have a mesh of an accessory that is ONLY for Adult Females, and is not multi-wearable. I would like to change ALL of that, and make it available from Toddler to Elder, multi-wearable, for both genders.
How does one do that? I don't know how to mesh, and any time I've even attempted to try it, I get completely overwhelmed. Any suggestions??

You can recategorise a mesh to make it wearable for male/female age generally with simpe.
However, it really depends on the mesh whether that is enough. If it's something like glasses, then it needs to be re-meshed for different ages and gender because each age and gender has different sizes. But generally it's just a little tweak.
If it's something smaller - like something to be held in the hand - then you could get away without needing to remesh it.
Also - when you are talking about orientation - are you just talking about the categories it is in, or are you also talking about turning the accessory around so that it's facing a different way?

Oh okay. I have a feeling this mesh was made from glasses, so it's probably one that would have to be remeshed to be the proper size. Dang. As for orientation, it is something that is on one side of the head.. i wasn't sure if there was a way to change sides. That was the least of my worries, though... was more concerned about making it available for toddlers and up.

If you want.... you can send it to me and I can see if it's easy to change. I've had a bit of experience in meshing and simpe.

Kiri, I sent you a PM And oh my gosh this chapter is one of the hardest I've ever had to write. Just sayin'. It's so hard to force yourself out of writers block... i've tried ALL of the little tricks that I know of. I feel like I'm slogging my way through mud with writing this one... and it's probably going to show for it, too, but mehhhhh.
