Great idea for a thread, Bex What's your name? Vanessa, but uh... no one calls me that. Just call me Van. Where are you from? Calgary, Alberta, Canada (though currently living in Vancouver, B.C.) Where would you like to live? Not sure. I hate the rain in Vancouver, so I can't see myself staying here long-term; on the other hand, Calgary is a very spread-out city with a shitty transit system and I hate driving. Are you married/single/engaged? Getting by on the occasional encounter. My last few relationships were a bit... uh, bizarre, so I'm trying to give myself some breathing room for now. How long have you been writing? Since the later years of elementary school. Some time between age ten and age twelve--can't remember exactly where within that period. What is your favorite book? Jeffrey Eugenides' Middlesex. Like I said in my interview... incest and intersexuality in the same novel? Awesome; I really dig those topics no one seems to want to write about. What is your favorite TV show? Not sure I have one favorite--currently watching South Park, Glee, and Grey's Anatomy (pretty sure I'm the only person on earth still watching that...) Do you drink/smoke? I drink on occasion, but not very much since I don't enjoy the sensation of being drunk; also, I'm a supertaster, and I'm very picky and don't really care much for the taste of most alcoholic beverages. I mainly stick to liqueurs, generally mixed with something like milk or coffee. I don't smoke, but I don't have a problem with people who do and I wish people wouldn't be so openly judgmental about it. What is your favorite food? Lobster--not that I can ever afford to go out and eat it (and of course, cooking it myself is out of the question; if I can make toast without burning it, that's a culinary accomplishment for me). What is your favorite season? Summer, but only because I'm still a student and I don't enjoy being in class and summer is a break for that; if school wasn't a factor, it would probably be winter. What is your favorite song? I don't really have a favorite song, or it fluctuates. I can, however, list a bunch of songs that I hate...

What's your name? Milena
Where are you from? Australia
Where would you like to live? Near a beach, so coastal. But somewhere temperate, so probably Tasmania.
Are you married/single/engaged? Single. Haven't had a RL relationship for too many years.
How long have you been writing? Not sure actually. I remember writing while I was in high school, but I haven't kept any of that writing. My suspicion is that I was writing in Primary school as well. So probably since I was about 5-6?
What is your favorite book? There are too many books that I love to say which one is my favourite. I can tell you which ones I pack when I'm going oseas for an extended period though:
James Thurber - TheStory of O and the 12 Clocks (A Kids book) Sheri Tepper - The Marianne Trilogy Patricia McKillip - Riddlemaster of Hed Trilogy Terry Pratchett - Witches Abroad.
What is your favorite TV show? I haven't watched TV for over 5 years now, except what I see on iplayers, and when I visit family.
Twilight Zone is the one I used to get up at 3am to watch. And I have all the DVDs. So that's the one really. I'm in awe of Rod Serling's power of storytelling.
Do you drink/smoke? No. Smoke gives me migraine, so unfortunately I can't even be in the same room as people smoking. No. I don't drink alcohol under medical orders. (I used to drink it though! And my favourite tipple was Gin and Tonic)
What is your favorite food?
CHOCOLATE!!! There is no other food that is so perfect. I have a magnet on my fridge: "Save Planet Earth - It's the only one with Chocolate!"
What is your favorite season?
I think I'm going to have to go with Spring. Autumn tends to be a bit wet and miserable in Melbourne, and there's something infinitely hopeful about Spring - with the days getting longer. My favourite months in Australia are August - October.
What is your favorite song?
Humm.... My favourite song to sing? Or to listen to?
To Listen to - At the moment its one that Stacy pointed out to me:
I love the guitar playing, the words, the voice, the black and white photography. Lyrics are really big for me.
To Sing - it's In Christ Alone. I love to sing harmony to this (I prefer singing harmony to the tune). They sing the sort of harmony that I sing in verse 3 (from 2:25). This song makes my heart burst. The last verse brings me to tears every time.
And for all the non-christians - feel free to ignore the you tube/words. I'm not the sort of person who thinks everyone has to believe or think the same. But I'm not ashamed of believing the way I do either, it's part of who I am.
I want to add another question!!
What's your favourite Non-Simming Website? I think it would have to be You-tube, there are too many really cool things on it.

Do you drink/smoke? No and No

Oooooh Kiri! We've much in common! What is your favorite TV show?I haven't watched TV for over 5 years now, except what I see on iplayers, and when I visit family. To Sing - it's In Christ Alone. I love to sing harmony to this (I prefer singing harmony to the tune). They sing the sort of harmony that I sing in verse 3 (from 2:25). This song makes my heart burst. The last verse brings me to tears every time. I want to add another question!! What's your favourite Non-Simming Website?I think it would have to be You-tube, there are too many really cool things on it. I feel the same way about TV. I've said that if I lived alone, I wouldn't even own one. The only thing I watch is Family Guy, and the irony is, I used to have one of those Nielsen boxes! Seriously! I laughed in their faces when they asked me. "You wanna give the girl that watches one hour of TV a day a Nielsen box?" But they paid me for it, so what the hell. I also love harmony rather than lead. I find that in songs, I will memorize the background arrangement before the lead. My dream is to be in the music industry, either as a songwriter or background vocalist. I could do lead, but I prefer intricate vocal arrangements. Nice to get to know everyone else too!!

Yay I've loved reading everyone else's answers! And just so you all know - the Josh Ritter song Kiri linked - John nominated it as "our song". Also Josh Ritter rocks in general, and you should check out his stuff. You can stream all of his music from his website, 'cause he's awesome like that. Josh RitterWhat's your name?Stacy. Also, through my life - pumpkin, hey you, that girl everyone thinks is so pretty, that bitch who thinks she's all that, etc. Where are you from?Mount Airy, North Carolina. That's right. There's an old still out in the woods behind my mother's singlewide trailer, with Clorox bottles and everything. And if you walk down the dirt road she lives on and out through the woods a bit, dodging the drug growers and dealers, you'll find an old tobacco barn with the biggest oak tree you've ever seen in front of it. Shall I link some Hank Williams Jr? Where would you like to live?I live in Charlotte right now. If I could somehow transplant John and my job to Mount Airy, I'd go back home. Every time I watch this video I get so freaking homesick - those are the voices I'm used to, the voices I grew up with, the voices I love. I love home. I love the great big blue sky and the hazy mountains on the horizon and the long stretches of 55 mph highway and the trees, oh man the trees and how they blaze in the fall, and the wind and the smell of the air and...that's where I belong. With my mountains. With my dirt road. With my woods. It's where my daddy grew up and lived. Where he played his guitar. Where he walked in the woods. Where he's buried. Are you married/single/engaged?I are married! For 8 years now! We've been together for 11. How long have you been writing? The first teacher to say I should be a writer was my first grade teacher. My mother still remembers the story I wrote then that prompted that, but I don't. What is your favorite book?Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte. Also I really like Pickwick Papers, by Charles Dickens. My favorite Terry Pratchett book is Small Gods. What is your favorite TV show?Ain't watched TV in over a decade, but I was quite the X-Files fan back in the day. Loved the Cigarette Smoking Man. Recently - we did watch Pushing Daisies and quite enjoyed it. Do you drink/smoke?Nope. Sometimes I imagine myself smoking while writing, but yeah - when you remember standing at your father's casket when you were seven, crying and thinking "Why did you have to smoke?"...yeah. I like being in control of myself, so I don't like the idea of being drunk. And alcohol tastes bad. Maybe I'm a supertaster too, Van. What is your favorite food?Pizza, all the way. What is your favorite season?Fall. I love the colors and the smells and the feeling and everything about it. Farmer Brown was mostly conceived as a way to feature fall heavily in a story, lol. What is your favorite song? Well - I've got this one on repeat one right now, for the last two days. It's not the clean version, btw. And yes, I totally identify with Kanye. This one - this one has been tops on my favorites list for a very long time. And one year, for my birthday, John got us tickets to a RHCP concert. And they played this song. Oh man - now that's some happiness and joy. And there is, of course, the main Seth song. Momma says Daddy really liked this song, so I do too. I'll just do one more - I used to play it as loud as I could when I got my first Thunderbird - going down 89 at 60 mph, windows rolled down, wind in my hair, sky perfect Carolina blue, the trees shining with the sun, and some damn good music blasting. This one goes back and forth with Soul to Squeeze for title of Best Song Ever Written. If you can't tell - Red Hot Chili Peppers is the Best Band to Ever Exist, hands down. This one - I feel it, man. Right in my heart. One time at TIP, we were out on a RA group night and this came on the radio, and the entire van started singing along with all their hearts. it's hard to believe that there's nobody out there it's hard to believe that I'm all alone at least I have her love the city she loves me lonely as I am, together we cryOH! I wanted to share the song that was Daddy's song for my mother, their version of mine and John's Temptation of Adam.

I like this. I love listening to everyone's songs and I have written down every book title that I hadn't read yet (thank you!)
What's your name? Heather
Where are you from? Spokane, WA--Washington State (I always clarify b/c when I went to college in Raleigh, NC, the people there always asked "Isn't there a lot of crime up there near the capitol?" Then I'd tell them I lived in WA and they'd ask, "Oh, does it rain there all the time, then?" I'd then have to explain that I don't live in Seattle. Spokane is on the OTHER side of the mountains. It's dry and arid most of the time.)
Where would you like to live? I've dreamed of living in Scotland or Ireland, but honestly, I really like where I am. I moved back to my home town after being away for nearly a decade. I never thought I'd do that because I hated it growing up.
Are you married/single/engaged? Married.
How long have you been writing? I used to write poetry in school and then short stories. Then I quit. Sims writing has brought me back from the dead.
What is your favorite book? Too many to name. I am a reader. I read EVERYTHING. I re-read a lot. One book I re-read often is Pride and Prejudice. But I also re-read the Blue Adept series by Piers Anthony.
What is your favorite TV show? Glee and Burn Notice.
Do you drink/smoke? No and no. I used to drink. I gave it up when I realized I was becoming like my grandmother who was an alcoholic. I am an asthmatic so I have never smoked.
What is your favorite food? Pizza.
What is your favorite season? Fall.
What is your favorite song? I don't have one. Music isn't my thing as much as reading. I just like music. Nothing ever pops out as a favorite.
Non-Sims website? I think Facebook. Which is just stupid and I'm embarrassed for even thinking it let alone writing it and leaving it hanging out there.

Oooh, another Karen Marie Moning fan! Once you have finished the Highlander series, you should read her Fever series. Starts with Bloodfever. It's a whole lot of seriously awesome urban fantasy. And the sexiest alpha male who's extremely mysterious, too. Barrens is the guy's name. I found myself a little mesmerized by him.

Moning knows how to create great heroes, and rousing adventure. Thanks for the suggestion~
