ItWorksItWorksItWorksItWorks!!! *deep breath* I can now play Sims2 on my desktop. A million thank-yous to Laura for recommending the graphics card! Had a nerve-wracking time installing it - kept thinking about the fact that I was poking around in the back of the same computer that just cost me a $400 repair bill a few weeks ago... and about the kinds of things that happen to sims when they poke around inside computers with screwdrivers... I honestly stood back when I turned it on and expected something to go bang No bangs, just a crappy picture until I figured out the driver... and now its great! The game takes a little longer to load than it did on the laptop, but that's no big problem. The main thing is that I don't have to worry about overheating my poor laptop any more. Yay and thanks again Laura!! Can you tell I'm excited about this?

Oh yay! So glad to hear it worked out! LOL @ your image of Sims poking around their computers! Yeah, it's not usually that bad in real life, huh?

And I lol'ed at the image of sims and computers too.

Thanks, guys... I'm still messing with the game settings to see what I can or can't turn up to strike a balance between smooth gameplay and good pictures, and it seems to be working well. I always think sims who get zapped should lose logic points for not unplugging the thing from the wall... even I remembered that part
