I am extremely F. Like off the scales F. Pretty high on the N and the P too. The E is more toward the middle.
I always scored INFP before and now I always score ENFP, but well - when you've taken it once you know what answers will lead to what results and you can skew it any way you want.
Also I have a huge problem answering some of the questions. Like "you feel involved when watching soaps". I know that's probably an F question. And I do get involved in other forms of storytelling. But soaps - sorry, no. Just not to my tastes. And it's been more than a decade since I watched any TV of any sort.
So then - do I answer it honestly and get a mark toward the T side when I know that's not how I am, or do I pretend it says "you feel involved when reading books/Sims stories/web fiction you love" or something?
Oh god, this one always gets me.
"You like to keep a check on how things are progressing."
What the hell does that even mean? What things? The loading bar on the Sims game? My stats page while I'm at work? The pizza in the oven?
Well - I do like to check on those things, lol.
Some of them are so vague - like "You consider the scientific approach to be best."
Well, that depends on situation, doesn't it? If you're involved in, say, running genetic experiments to learn more about a disease, then yes, obviously, that's the best approach. But if you're, let's say, trying to figure out why your story decided to throw a squeak into the works, then there's not a whole lot of science going on.
And I imagine this is a T question. And I do have that self-concept of being wildly F. So one way to get past having no clue at all how to answer because it's too vague is to just pick the answer that will ensure a result more fitting to my preconceived self concept.
Oh!
"It is easy for you to communicate in social situations."
Oh, man. That depends on so much stuff it's not even funny. Are we talking about dealing with a stranger or are we talking about posting on here or are we talking about hanging out with family IRL?
And here, knowing that my answers on previous I/E questions are leaning towards I because I am an extrovert who likes being alone on occasion and who gets most of her social interaction online and who isn't into parties and pointless small talk, I can answer yes to try and provide a balance.
Hmm.
Last time I took it I came out somewhat E, very very N, mid to high F, and very very P.
This time I'm slightly I, somewhat N, highly F, and somewhat P.
The tests were on different sites and probably had some differences in their questions and I probably solved the problems of way too freaking vague questions in different ways. Also this one was yes/no and I think the other site had a spectrum of five choices between "always" and "never" or something.
On some tests, the problem isn't so much vagueness as that the questions are obviously aimed at a mainstream corporate executive middle class audience. I don't even have a place to start understanding the questions from because my brain just does not work like that and those terms - "project", "productivity", etc - are not part of my daily life and worldview.
But I do find the ENFP profiles somewhat helpful, so hey. My basic philosophy with things like this is to take what helps you and leave what doesn't.
By the way - Seth is INTJ. And supposedly ENFPs and INTJs go together quite well. I mentioned that to John and he was all "Hey, isn't that what I am?"
He's tested as INTP before, but if you look at my computer desk compared to his - he obviously has more J than I do.
We were talking about the idea of "what gender is your brain" the other day and decided that we're both pretty much in the middle there. As John said when I brought up what Kiri said about females liking stories about relationships - "You're not the one in this relationship who enjoys romantic comedies." However, I am the one who currently wants to dress like a fairy and is starting to check out the fairy scene online.
OH! And also with the right brain/left brain thing - I always come out evenly split on those tests. Guess that's how I write and edit at the same time.
OMG! I read this book a while ago - My Stroke of Insight, by Jill Bolte Taylor. I'd link you to the Amazon page but apparently I can't copy and paste at the moment. And yes, I've downloaded Chrome and once I get done looking at my current IE tabs I'm going to check it out, because IE has been nothing but trouble lately.
Anyway - Taylor is a neuroscientist, so when she had a stroke she knew what was up and how to deal with it. And what I found most interesting was her observations about how, with her left brain disabled, the perception of her right brain was euphoric ecstatic enlightenment.
And err - I really need to do other stuff right now, lol. Kiri - gonna be emailing you at some point today. And I didn't end up writing yesterday - instead we went out and I bought lots of books (two of our local bookstores are closing soon
and they're having good sales) and then I spent the day traipsing through stuff about Europe in the 1100s on Wikipedia. I figure it's giving my subconscious stuff to work with for the Glitterface the Necrofairy story.
