I like the idea of these babble threads! I don't really have a place to babble about my story; I have too many blogs as it is without starting up a Sim-babble-specific one, and don't want to clog up the Avalon blog with non-story stuff. Spoilers below: Anyway... I'm starting to wonder if Riverview - or at least the Avalons' version of it - is cursed Tom Shallow had the Evil trait, and I knew that when I first put him in the story; his whole family is evil. Then Auryn's friend from elementary school turned out to have the Evil trait. I didn't expect it, but okay. Then her high school best friend grew into the Evil trait when he aged into a young adult. Then Selah brought home some random teenager, and... she was evil. (And a loser. Nice combo.) At this point I started to wonder what was going on.
Then Auryn's kid was born as an evil genius. And then... Selah's kid was born as an evil loner.
I'm starting to think this town needs an exorcism or something.

With my latest update, I think I may have finally resolved Ferby's plotline; I'm not sure, of course, because it depends heavily on the things that happen in-game, but I think he's in a good place right now, and after what happened in the latest update, I think it should be a lot easier for him to keep himself under control. He thinks his relationship with Auryn was the only thing that could help him, but it's not; that he's been able to keep himself under control for so long proves that.
I'm worried, though, that I didn't make him sympathetic enough. Especially after how he treated Selah. But if I made things too easy for him, it wouldn't be true to the story I see in my head, and then I'd get frustrated and bored. (And I really don't need that... I've given up on too many legacies; I don't want an excuse to give up on this one too.) Besides, I was afraid that what I did to Auryn would drive readers away, and as far as I can tell, it didn't. I suppose the only thing I can do is tell the story the way it is in my head.

Does Ferby have the evil trait, or similar? I was trying to work out where his inner conflicts were coming from. I don't think there was a problem that he wasn't sympathetic enough, but I do wonder if the last three or four chapters happened very quickly - a lot of conflicting emotions and decisions in fast succession. I know that it's hard to get balance over time in a legacy, though, if you're playing it through and needing to pop out those babies, so I appreciate things do often need to happen fast in terms of gameplay.

Yes, Ferby has the evil trait - there seem to be an inordinate number of evil Sims in Riverview I was wondering that too, about it moving too fast; like you said, it's hard to get a good balance in a legacy. I find myself rushing through things that deserve more time, because I want to wrap up the plots before the next stage of the story. (I was also afraid of making the story not as believable; I didn't want to have Ferby actually kill anyone, and I worried that if I drew out the time when he was desperately fighting to get control of himself and when it was getting harder and harder for him, and yet he maintained control all that time, it would start to look like his keeping himself under control wasn't actually that difficult.)

No, I think you conveyed the inner conflict well - I'd suggest perhaps not posting multiple chapters at once though, even if you've played them out and written them - I think if readers have time to digest the previous chapter the next one will have more impact. Just a thought...

Well, my entire legacy blog now seems to be gone It's not that big a deal, since I have all the chapters saved on my computer, but I'm going to have to re-upload them all someplace, plus I've lost all my last-minute edits. (I start with a Word doc where I write down screenshot numbers and picture captions as I play; when I'm ready to post a chapter, I paste it into Wordpress, replace the screenshot numbers with the actual screenshots, and give the text some minor tweaks.) I'm still playing, though, even though it means I'm getting further and further behind (even before the blog went down, the Avalon family was a full generation ahead of the most recent post)... and I ended up with an ongoing minor glitch that I actually managed to turn into a major plot point. That's one of the things I love about Sims stories - the game gives me ideas I never would have come up with on my own

Good news! I discovered that I could still access the dashboard of the old blog, so I was able to import the blog to its new location at avalonlegacy.wordpress.com. No reposting necessary I am incredibly relieved.

Hooray! What happened to the Sims3Legacy site anyway? Did it just go splat without telling any of its members?

Hooray! What happened to the Sims3Legacy site anyway? Did it just go splat without telling any of its members? Pretty much, yeah. Whenever I try to access the main site or any of the blogs on it, I get a message that says, "You don't have permission to access /index.php on this server." I guess I shouldn't be surprised, since it was pretty overrun with spam; I think whoever was running it may have abandoned it a few months ago.

This is a ways off from being posted, since I'm still behind on my updates, but I've finally ended the storyline with my villain... which means that my legacy is left without a villain for the first time since it started! I'm hoping I can still manage to keep it interesting; I think I can, since I never intended to have all these villains in the story in the first place - it's not my fault everyone in Riverview ended up with the Evil trait - but I've gotten so used to having an evil Sim in the story that I'm not sure what I'm going to do without one.
