Every November, a bunch of people get together and write for thirty straight days. To read more about it, you can visit the official site here. It's really just a bit of fun and for some (like me) who have a hard time getting motivated in starting a long term project. I'm curious to see if anyone here has been thinking of participating this year and whether you will be planning to blog about it. As for me, I am definitely going to be participating and might end up setting up a separate blog just for Nanowrimo.

I always set myself some kind of goal during the month of November, while everybody is going crazy with their writing. I like the group spirit of it. My goal for this year is to have my novel submission-ready by the end of the year, and that'll probably take me the whole rest of the year to do. Around November-time, I'll probably be in my final stages of edits, so maybe I'll do NaNoEditMo while all you guys are starting new stuff

Heh, I was coming here to make a NaNoWriMo topic and you beat me to it.
I'm definitely considering it. I have an ancient story idea that I'd like to work with. I'll definitely blog about it if I decide to do it. : )
If I don't, then maybe I'll try to start and complete a sim story during that month.

Laura, that's so exciting. Final novel edits before the submission process.
lhasa, you're a genius! That is a fantastic idea for those who don't want to participate in Nanowrimo, we should do a SimWriMo instead. Write and complete a sim story in the month of November.
Any takers?

I love the idea of a SimWriMo! But of course one would only have time for one or the other.
I never know what I'm going to do until I get to that week right before it. I never bother planning-- planning doesn't work so well for me. I just need a good idea that I can write a lot about, lol. Actually, delving into Ruin, that was supposed to be this years NanoWriMo story for me, but I couldn't hold it off. It came to me in September, and well that was that.

I was very tempted last year, but that's always the busiest time of year at work. However, I might just go for it anyway this year… either NaNoWriMo or SimWriMo. :-)

I wish they'd change the name - surely with the number of people from around the world taking part it should be GloNoWriMo, which also sounds like something the Judoon would say *wonders if anyone else watches Doctor Who* although whilst I'd love to do this challenge, November is an awful time for it to run.
SimWriMo sounds like a great idea, btw. I'd totally be up for just doing a whole new project then - I have a story I've been planning for a while; maybe instead of spreading it over a year or two, I could focus it into that month.

Yay, motivation!
I need more of it. I don't think I've ever heard of this event outside of this thread. Its very interesting.

Rad, try saying that real quick. I can't even manage it!
Meowzbark, it's a lot of fun and kind of allows you to ignore the inner editor and just go with it. My last Nanowrimo attempt was quite funny. I'm glad I did it and it wasn't anything polished but that's okay. It was just a way to sort of get all the ideas down even if for me, I did it rather illogically but still ... I got it all down.

I love the sound of GloNoWriMo – now I'm picturing glowing ink flowing out of a pen. Well, my keyboard is backlit. I guess that might count. :-) I used to watch Doctor Who ages ago, although it lost its charm a little after the celery guy came along. Tom Baker rules!
