I'll echo sb, you aren't a freak. Anyone targeted like that would feel the same. That you came back and stay speaks of your strength. I'm glad you are still here. Lots of people end up leaving the community all together after an experience like that. *still mourns for Moondaisy* And Catherine, but I'm not sure what made Catherine leave. Yay for not being a freak! *hugs* And it's because of you guys - I have a social support system. That can make all the difference in the world.

You are NOT a freak. People who find entertainment in hurting other people are sadistic. Sometimes they're amateurs, but sometimes they are very very good at drawing blood. The only time I was deliberately attacked for someone's amusement, I quit the forum and never went back. You have a lot of guts to try it again. WHOO!!! I have now read all the comments! Go me, go me! I just...I don't understand the thought process there. I've been reading about psychology stuff on Wikipedia, and I don't know - I guess it may just be a matter of neurochemicals and brain structure. Some people's brains just don't work right when it comes to empathy and pro-social behavior. Anyway. I am feeling much better now and I read all the replies on here! Next goal - Lunar's reply on the aesthetics thread and Mela's reply on LJ. ALSO! John found my base game disk the other day. I haven't found my High End Loft stuff disk, but whatever. Everything else was digital and in the EA download manager. I got it all installed and patched today and played some of the first family I ever made - the patriarch was a Joker sim I downloaded from the Exchange. Every generation has two kids and I pick the heir based on which one got the most Joker-esque features. Unfortunately the bright green hair has been gone for a couple of generations now, and the sharp angles on the faces keep getting softer and more rounded. Alas. John bought Late Night for me just now. It's downloading. Watch this space for pics of vampire Seth dancing on tables. Oh man, I need to find him a thong. I can just imagine vampire Seth dancing on a table to GnR's Used to Love Her, while screaming fangirls stick dollar bills in his thong. What? I've been told by people who've downloaded him that I'm not the only one who squeals when taking pics of him.

And I miss Moondaisy and Catherine, too. And Carnaxa).

And you rock! I am also glad that you came to hang out with us and added your voice and your stories here. And if we'd gone to school together, I would have hung out with you. Awww, thanks Stacy I'm glad I came to hang out here too--and I totally would have hung out with you in school A couple of my friends got bullied even worse than I did. I was at a highly conservative Christian private school for grades one through nine. This was during the time when same-sex marriage was a front-page issue in Canada, and two of my friends--a boy who came out the year after we graduated, and a girl who is quite tomboyish--got absolutely brutalized by certain students while the homophobic admin looked the other way. In contrast, most of what I went through came from being a "know-it-all", being a "rage case", and for hanging out with the two aforementioned friends. And yet, even though they both went through worse than I did, they seem to have emerged as stronger people. They--and you, who have also gone through worse--never let it get to them like I did. I don't know where people get off posting secrets like that. I know bullies lash out because they have their own problems and whatnot, but going after the same target over and over and over seems beyond "lashing out" to me. It's pretty much stalker behavior, really, and no one tries to sugar-coat a stalker's behavior by labeling it as "lashing out". Seriously, kudos to you for sticking around after going through all that crap.

Interesting watching Seth drink. So can he drink without turning the other Sim or does it always turn the other Sim into a vamp?

Interesting watching Seth drink. So can he drink without turning the other Sim or does it always turn the other Sim into a vamp? Nope, it doesn't turn the other Sim. Sarah just got a little moodlet from it and it filled up Seth's thirst bar. Turning is a different interaction - you have to ask specifically to be turned or to turn someone else.

Seth and Sarah both wanted to have a first child, and to have a child with each other. So I got Sarah pregnant. And we have....Emma the Second! Valley of the Damned: The ReckoningShe got Sarah's hair and eyes, and Seth's skin tone and vampirism. Traits thus far: evil, perceptive, and snob. LOL! Oh - between the skilling speed bonus of being a vampire and the logic skilling bonus of the perceptive trait, she maxed out logic the first time she played chess. You can download her here if you want.

Vampires skill faster? MUST HAVE ALL MY SIMS BE VAMPIRES. I think they only get the bonus at night. You'll know when they're skilling faster because there will be bats flying around the skill meter.

I am a bad bad person. I was looking through my screenshots folder at the shots I took of Sarah and Seth and the new family I've been playing the last couple of days. I ran through the pics I took for a Who's Your Daddy challenge way back in May. I already had edited and uploaded a few to Photobucket and set up a new blog back then. I just set the new blog up with the same theme as Valley, because it is a really neat theme (and it allows for bigger pictures than Valley's first theme), and I am editing the pics like a madwoman. No GIMP burnout. I have enough pics for a full first update. Perhaps I will just do that and get it out of the way and then 10.08 will come. Not sure if I want it to be a WYD anymore, though. Or a legacy. I don't want to commit to a challenge, really. But the pics are utter comedy gold. Like the first six chapters of my first Sims 2 legacy level of comedy gold. Maybe more. Well - Valley started out with the intention of being a legacy. I could just see where the story takes me. It's in Riverview. The blog is named In the View of the River. Also, Valley's tagline "No smoking. The playground is extremely flammable." is from an actual sign we saw while visiting my mother the weekend before I started the blog. So I used a line from another sign we saw while visiting my mother for this one. "Injury Or Death Possible! Stay On Marked Trail!" If I'm going to be playing the game obsessively again and seem to have gotten over the GIMP burnout, why not try another Sims story?

Works for me! Me too - I think I needed something simple and easy and fun to get me out of the gaming binge non-creative slump. Can't go straight from 0 to 60. Needed to warm up first. I'm working on it now - looking at the pictures, listening to the story, rearranging the pics as needed. Starting to caption. I have the EPIC update playlist going - not the beautiful letters one. It's different. A lot more songs, for one thing - mostly 10 related. EPIC update listYellow by Coldplay came on, and I heard the line "For you I'd bleed myself dry." I realized I could relate that to Seth. Seth honey, I am coming back. Just gotta get started with this other thing first, because you take a lot out of me and I need to be prepared and at my best.

Isn't it weird? How you can waste a whole week in Sims 3 and then, on the second to last day of your vacation, with 50 some pics of a light fun story ready to go and just needing some captions, you spend the day sleeping and reading the plot summaries of all the Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street movies on Wikipedia (which you got to after reading all about Buffy the Vampire Slayer after searching for Buffy and Spike after posting that bit about the Sarah/Seth scene in the writing romance thread) and then your husband and sister-in-law make a big production and joke of serving you a plate of whipped cream and then you take the plate to the sink only to be met with anger and displeasure because "I wanted to be done with the dishes" and you're like "You saw Grace bring this plate to me!" and you slam the bedroom door and lie on the bed and smell the new fresh sheets (because he's been doing laundry tonight too) and cry to yourself, great rending sobs of self-hatred and anger and despair.
But you took a notebook and a pen with you, and in the tears and the uselessness and the vast empty nothing, Seth comes. And you write the first paragraph of 10.08.

If I don't respond to emails or PMs or LJ comments and don't comment on stories or blog posts, it's not because I don't care.
It's because I am completely and totally out of spoons.

It's on the Emo!Teen Seth Experience CD. Can't decide who is singing to who here - Seth to Caitlyn, Caitlyn to Seth, me to...the world, I don't know.
Got three comments on the Warm Fuzzies thing! And replied to all of them - screw convention and conformity. I ain't gonna wuss out this year.
And it did help. It did.
54 words in the 10.08 draft. Nothing like being far down in the Seth part of yourself for helping you write Seth.
Tomorrow I go back to work. I imagine that will help immensely.
I always have these grand plans of getting so much writing done while I'm on vacation. And I always learn the same lesson - I need the structure of my job to write. I need to be forced to get up, to shower, to know that my time is limited, to go outside and drive around all day and listen to music.
So I am hoping that I will feel much better soon. But at the same time - this is useful. This is good. I can take this dark emptiness and make it Seth's. Make it something beautiful and good.

I'm hoping I can get some work done tonight, omg - yesterday was a total bust, with in-laws all over the place all day until it was way too late.
Also, I just trashed a comment on the blog. Dude may be responsible for my highest traffic day with his shout out on his blog, but that was a year and a half ago and his comment didn't say anything about my work or the warm fuzzies - it was total impersonal spam about his own shit. So whatever. Dude got trashed. I don't even have the patience anymore.

*has half a mind to go to the Stories forum and delete the links put up by people who never posted anything else here* That, I can understand. It comes across as rude to just stop in to promote a story, but usually those things peter out anyway. Either the person stops writing because they're only looking for validation or for more readership and when they don't get that fast enough they quit. Or they just stop telling us when they update because we never started reading it in the first place. Frankly, promoter types, if you have to go all over the place to find readers, then you're doing something wrong. Edit: Did that sound mean? Or can I just say blunt and call it a day?

Yeah, I can understand that too--although if you were to do something like that, it would probably merit a warning period. Like, PMing all people doing that and giving them a week or so to start posting on the other threads or something.
Although... maybe they're just shy? Then again, I guess they wouldn't be advertising if that was the case.

I say the best thing to do is let it ride. It's annoying, but the issue takes care of itself. Either promoters quit or actually get involved. And Stacy, if you ever need to vent in PM, I'm available. Sometimes it just helps to go, "Can you believe that?"
