So there are a few movie scenes that have always stayed with me (normally romantic scenes)....I'll put one up here (just because it's already posted on YouTube), but I'm working on putting together a clip of another one that I think about a lot..... I wish I could put something like this scene into words...there's something just so perfect about the moment. It's the "almost kiss" from the movie "Mansfield Park" (not to be confused very much at all with Jane Austen's Mansfield Park--talk about a LOOSE adaptation--but taken as a thing on its own, the movie is very good). But anyway, here's the scene, and it kills me every time. What scenes stay with you, and inspire you to try and capture the feelings involved with words?

Almost kisses are the hardest!
This one is my favourite -
Viola is masquerading as a boy (Cesario), and in love with her master Orsino. In this scene they break into a barn, listen to the wise fool Feste sing a song, and they almost kiss.
How do you write that - including the look on the Fool's face?

Oh, definitely this one. Joker blows up the hospitalI have a Dark Knight calendar on the wall above my computer. It's permanently on the pic of the Joker in front of the burning pile of money. Here's that scene, by the way. OMG - I never saw Mansfield Park on principle, because omg - Fanny called a "spirited" heroine??? That's just wrong. I like the scene though.

Yet another, a clip I had to make because the one already on YouTube was very long, but even worse--the dialogue was out of synch. I believe this clip will not violate Fair Use, given the clip's length (less than a minute), and my purpose/intent in using it (educational/to promote discussion). From the 1944 version of Jane Eyre (with Orson Welles and Joan Fontaine)--a scene in which they shake hands. Perhaps I'm weird, but this scene blew me away the first time I saw it--maybe you need the surrounding context to get the full effect, but still...very powerful. I'm not sure what it is, exactly, that makes it perfect. But it is.

It's the heart breaking scenes that always get me. Tristan wins IsoldeTristan's deathThere's another scene in it aswell I absolutely adore and would never be able to write but I can't find a clip for it where as the battle begins Tristan sends Isolde away and it's so heartbreaking. Well the whole film is. Oh I know there's this one aswell. I wouldn't have a clue how to write it, and it's so funny. url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SzG-xOMz_c]Doctor Who detox scene[/url]
