Sgt. Carlos Vasquez doesn't get into relationships. But when a one night stand turns into the girl he can't forget, he finds himself chasing after a memory for years and burying himself into his work in order to put her from his mind. After all, she lives hundreds of miles away and couldn't possibly be thinking of him the same way. Little does he know that she is constantly reminded of him and their night together whenever she looks into her daughter's eyes, but has given up hope of ever finding him to tell him the truth of his daughter's existence... A/N: This is the "spin-off" from my legacy story The McTavishams. Carlos' character was first introduced in Generation 3; Chapter 23 "Mistake..." which can be read here. When I get to his character study I will post the link here as well. Warnings: This story may contain some or all of the following - drugs, violence, sexually explicit content, profanity, and pixellated nudity. Each chapter will have a warning flag if any of these subjects should arise in it. Other than that... if you EVER have questions, don't hesitate to ask! I LOVE talking with people (I'm a chatterbox in real life... drives my co-workers bonkers at 9am...) and I'm happy and bubbly and positive almost all the time. I love to write, and this is something I want to pursue for my future; my goal is to become a Romance novelist someday. So this is my foot in the door... my way of working on everything - tension, drama, love, sadness - and EVERY bit of feedback is helpful to me.

Both Hector and Anastasia were silent and Carlos pulled his fingers into a fist on the table defensively. He could sense what was coming. Over the last few years Hector had made it very clear that he did not approve of Carlos indulging his fantasies of a one-night-stand on an island vacation. Carlos knew it was because of Hector’s powerful urge to protect him as his brother… the intensity of which, he thought, was maybe because he’d missed out on the first twelve years of his life. However, it gets old quickly when you’re in your thirties and your brother’s protectiveness tends to switch to smothering at a moment’s notice. ==================== Continue reading at the wordpress! Warnings: Language, mild mention of drug use… actually, he’s a cop, going after a drug ring. Just assume the rest of the chapters will reference drug use.

At the end of the alley was a large hanger door, like that of a garage. It was wide open, the only light coming from a small security room with an empty chair and a broken window. To the back of the hanger was a pair of old rusted doors, one of them slightly ajar, and the sounds of men shouting could be heard from within. He had to see if he could hear how far away they were… then he’d be able to catch them by surprise all the easier. Moving inside the hanger, his shoe crunched a piece of glass and he side-stepped to get away from it quickly. The toe of his other shoe caught a fine, thin wire underneath it as he stepped away from the glass… And he heard the click at his right. It came from inside the security room. Everything that happened next happened very, very fast… and yet, it felt as if it would last forever… ============================= Continue reading at the wordpress! Warnings: Language, violence, both verbally and graphically intense towards the end – including blood. ... And Stacy... there's fire involved... ::entices::
