I've made a decision about the story I'm going to do this year (2011). I've also decided to do it in Sims2 as an actor/set thing rather than a hood. It's a testing thing.
What I need is URLs for lots of Pose boxes. (and tutorials).
I'm storyboarding what I need, and have some specific things I need.
NB. I'm still going to do my TS3 hood as a prosperity hood, and writing my 5 families story in TS3.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Check out this link Kiri. There is a reference list that you can download...a PDF file with links to all the pose boxes out there. Very comprehensive. Sorry I don't know how to make a fancy URL link... community.livejournal.com/simhaven/68785.html

Kiri, a blog buddy of mine, Lachesis, has a posebox catalog, that might be of assistance. It shows some poses, from various boxes. Not sure how updated it is, but will give you an idea. I like that she has it categorized by 'stand, sit...etc' lachesispbcatalog.blogspot.com/The links above are also very useful. Also, Goodbye-Sun from Sim Haven posted this, about posing sims, very helpful community.livejournal.com/simhaven/51687.html?view=334823#t334823

Oooh, thanks for the link! That posebox catalog is amazing!!! I totally just bookmarked that! I tried to make one of my own at one point, and got about through one single posebox before I quit, lol!

Laura, I hear you, I have done a couple of sporadic posts at my main blog showing some pose-boxes, and that was enough for me. I would never have the patience for this. Here is one I did for Ang's car pose box drewsolteszsimsstories.blogspot.com/2010/03/ang-car-pose-box-little-more-whimsy.html

Thanks for some of these links. I think I have most of them but I'm always looking to bookmark. I'm also reading tutorials so I might be a while getting used to using it and having everything look lovely. The links that Laura has should be useful too.
Now, if my computer won't be such a baby and stop overheating every time I play I'll try all of these awesome poses out. =\

I use Sim Haven's links, she posts new poseboxes every month and I seriously stalk those all the time. here. If you're looking for a tutorial on posing WITH the poseboxes, I have yet to find one. It's pretty simple though. With the selected sim, click on the box you want to pose from, and select the pose you want. Unfortunately most of them are labeled "pose 1, pose 2, pose 3, pose 4..." etc. so if you don't have images to reference them saved on your computer, you might have to cycle through them to find the poses you want. This can be time consuming if you're looking for something specific. Another thing to keep in mind; most posebox poses can be combined with each other. This is something you can do once you've become more accustomed to using the posebox, but I'll put it here anyway. Sometimes when I want a specific pose, I combine ones that are alike to create a newer pose. I happen to think that a lot of the posebox poses can be rigid and frozen-looking, and I like my pictures more fluid. For example: I wanted Claire to appear like she was rubbing her arms, not just walking with her arms crossed. This pose is easy since it's all from one box... ~Drew's image references here. What I did was have Claire pose using pose 8, pose 9, and pose 11 to combine them to create this look. Pose 8 is very close, but still too "frozen" for me, so by adding the two polar opposite poses (pose 9 has her hands at her sides in a fist, and pose 11 is with her hands up, palms facing her) it brings them back to the middle again. Although you can't tell, but her hands are nowhere near her arms... it's all in the angle of the shot Most of my bedroom scenes I do using this method, usually using multiple poseboxes. The trick is to find ones that will be somewhat alike, and your sim will "blend" into each pose, kinda like when you blend facial expressions. You get a little of each. So trying to blend a seated pose with a lying down pose will make your sim into a bit of a pretzel, but combine a lying down pose with a standing/holding pose, and your sim is angled and in mid-air, but in a completely new (usable!) pose. Then you can just angle them using SilentLucidity's angled/shiftable OMSP's and float them to where you want them. Like I said, this method is for when you're accustomed to the poseboxes, and also familiar with the OMSP's, because just jumping into it then would be intimidating to say the least.. This probably didn't make any sense... I have a hard time explaining things. That's why I don't make tutorials lol

Christi, (can I call you Christi?) your post made all kinds of sense. I keep a notebook for those poseboxes I use often, Because as you say, most just say 'Pose 1, pose 2'...etc. So I have a description in my note book, like "Leaning against wall, hand to lips" so I can access what I want, quickly.
I have only started combining poseboxes. Duh, I wasn't aware you could do that with some of them until recently. And Laura I think posted a couple of links to poseboxes at MTS that allow you to do posebox overlays recently. I am too lazy to get the links!
And I so agree the angle of the shot can change the perception of the pose in a positive way. It is true, once you get in the habit of using pose boxes, OMSP's and cheats, you can whip those sims into poses quick as poss.

I think I would quite possibly kill for something like that. I wish I had thought of doing that before I downloaded about 1837861-jillion boxes. Now I don't know what half of them are called because they pop up in chinese writing in my system so I have to with what's on the box. I think half of them never even get used in my game XD

Angles are also good for hiding bleeding limbs that you (meaning me!) are too inept to Photoshop away. One thing that I've been wanting to do for a while is edit the menu titles for some of the boxes in SimPE. I'd number them first, take pictures of the poses and label them with the numbers. Then I could go back into SimPE and swap the numbers out for more meaningful titles. I'll never do it though. Too much work! I did take a bunch of pictures of the poses from some of my pose boxes and they do help.

Carla, angles are big for me, I am constantly shifting the camera around, for the reason you state (my photoshop skills is limited to using the clone stamp only, LOL!) plus most of my guys use Slim BB or the Athletic skins, so there are arms bursting through chests or other areas! Oh God, that would be a lot of work, swap the numbers for more descriptive titles. I couldn't do it either, but I did write it in a notebook. I only keep a few dozen boxes in my game anyway, mostly couples poses.
Christi, I would be lost without the notebook. I also have to put a description of the box sometimes, because like you say, some have Chinese characters/letters. Click on the link above for what I did with Ang's car posebox, and you can see my descriptions. Wow, does it save time. I love Kitty's poseboxes, she actually puts descriptions~
