Not sure this is even feasible or wise, but if you create a new hood, could you cut and paste the character folder from another hood and put it in the new hood? Would the characters move over, or would it be a big mess? I assume all the relationships and everything from the previous hood would be wiped out, that is not that important to me. As I type this, Yeah, I can see it would ball things up. Just curious if anyone has ever tried it.

I don't think that's a good idea. You should clone the sims in SimsPE or remake them in CAS or Bodyshop. Copying character files is dangerous. If it works, you'll bring along unplayable copies of the character files of every Sim they have ever met (including NPC's), or are related to. You could corrupt your new NB.

Thanks Beth, I assumed as much, I haven't got to the point yet where I need to build a new hood, but I can see it further down the road. Was looking for a shortcut. And wondering if anyone ever tried it. It would be a mess.

With TS2, I would not bother with shortcuts. Always a bad idea, lol.

LOL, yeah, shortcuts will usually just cause more problems!
Even without the issues Beth mentions, the characters wouldn't be recognised by the new hood anyway. They'd just be dead, useless files, linked to absolutely nothing useful.

Well, it was worth a shot, LOL! ;D

sorry, misread or misunderstood what you originally asked, Karen, but the bottom line is it won't work. I did have a sort of a thought though: you could try replacing the whole corrupt NB terrain, without the lots, using the Hood Replace program. I don't know if it will remove a corrupt lot (probably not), but it's quick and easy to do. It it works, you still have all your sims and will just have to rebuild the lots. You can even specify that you want to retain the NB decor and the roads. It's a great suggestion beth, but I don't think it will get rid of that 'white noise' corrupted lot. But I will definitely look into that, thanks for suggesting it! So far, the sub hoods are fine. As long as I can use those, I'll keep going for now. You know me, no patience, looking for the quick way...

You know, I seem to remember that there's a way to delete corrupt lots (or any lots, really) with SimPE. I wonder if I'm totally making that up or not. :\

You're not making it up. There is a way, but I'll have to go through my links to find it.
The problem with corrupt lots, is that you need to delete stuff from 3 different packages. The neighbourhood thing of Simpe will help you with it - but it's been 2 years since I've used it so I'm not confident I'd remember all the bits and pieces to delete.
Is the lot populated or unpopulated?

Carla: No your not. I was sent a tutorial on the SimPE/corrupt lot thing from Gayl. I enclose the picture I posted at my main blog a while back. This 'white noise' corruption is spread over two lots. In a snit, I have since torn this neighborhood apart, and moved everyone out I needed plus a few lots. I am playing on a couple of sub-hoods now, so far, so good. Thanks for your help! Kiri: That is really sweet of you, but I may have it already. Also, SimPE is not installed on my computer at the moment. The two lots are populated, but they are 'extras' and not important to my story, so I can live without them. I guess I was hoping (a futile hope, I know) of finding an easy, painless way to have a fresh hood with those same characters. Short of cloning everyone like Beth said, I guess not. Oh well, I tried, ;D Thanks so much Kiri, for your help! Attachments:

This is the Sims.... there is NO easy plainless way to do anything! do you mean painless? Thanks to a blog buddy, she sent me some suggestions to get rid of those borked lots, I used clean installer to delete the lots, worked perfectly. I moved the people out first by summoning them to another lot and adding them to the household. Time will tell if it helps with the crashing issue. thanks to everyone that responded here~
