Hi everyone, I was invited by Lunar Fox to check out this forum. I've never joined a Sims forum before, but this seems to be where all the writer-types hang out, so count me in I'm Laura, and I write a big rambling mess of a story called Lakeside Heights (I don't know how to make a link on this board, so it's linked in my profile). I only have Sims 2 at the moment, and don't plan on moving to Sims 3 until LH is finished. Maybe another year or so? I'm in no hurry. About me - I was an English major in college (but I'm totally NOT great at grammar, lol!), and am currently working on my first novel. Or well, what I hope will be my first publishable novel. I've finished novels before, but ended up scrapping them. I'm sticking to this one, I swear it! I'm a Michigan native now in Virginia. I'm a wife of seven years (OMG, really? LOL!) and mommy of a very rambunctious three year-old. I also like taking pictures and playing the guitar. I'm rather long-winded, I suppose. So I'll leave you with that. I hope to share lots of memorable discussions with you all. And hello!

Hi Laura!! Fantastic to see you here. I really loved your article on Gameplay vs Storytelling (I think I linked to it somewhere on the forum). I've been meaning to get to your site but work has been crazy stupid. I'm hoping to have a browse on the weekend.
That is great news about your first novel. I hope things are going well and you are progressing with it.
You play the guitar? I wish I knew how. I tried but my fingers get all cramped up. I'm trying to find a piano teacher where I am so I can start learning.
Looking forward to seeing you around the forum. Welcome aboard!

Yay! Glad you joined. To make a link you just put [url*=link]name of link[/url] without the *. Yay, another Sims 2 person! I think we have a couple others around here. Ooh, a novel? That's interesting - post about it if you want. When Valley is done I've pretty much decided on embarking on a novel fashioned from it so I'd be up for discussion on writing actual books. I'm in North Carolina and used to live right up near the Virginia border. Used to go up 52 a bit to buy lottery tickets before we got the lottery. My seventh wedding anniversary was last month. Yay for being married for seven years! We also have at least one other mother of a toddler here that I know of. Long-winded is definitely accepted here.

Hi Laura! Any story that can be lovingly described as a big rambling mess sounds interesting to me! I'll go check it out. I look forward to reading your input here.

Wow, thank you all for the very warm welcome! Carnaxa, I love piano too! I tried to take lessons at one point, but gave up. I wish I hadn't because anytime I see someone playing piano I get insanely jealous. I have to admit, music is actually my first love, before writing. Music is the scorned high-school lover of my life, whom I cruelly betrayed to become a writer. LOL, look at how dorky I am I was never very great at music though, as much as I tried to be. I'm too shy, I sing like a mouse, and get horribly nervous in front of people. Much better suited to writing, lol! Stacy, I'd love to discuss with you some time about adapting Sim-stories into traditional fiction. In fact, I'm actually trying out a little experiment right now, writing a traditional fiction short based on one of my characters and some events that happened in game. I'm finding it translates pretty well! Again, thank you all for such a warm welcome

Hi Laura!
I am a Sims 2 person, so yes, so glad you are here! I agree with you, Sims 3 looks great, but I am in no hurry, I will get there sometime, LOL! I only just got BV and AL! So I have a lot to explore in Sims 2 as yet. I also, an working on a novel! Well, just finished, now editing. So would also love discussions on that process as well. Cheers!
