I'm trying to work up a bedroom for a series of shots and I cannot get it right. It's Duff's bedroom. Doing anything for Duff is breaking my brain. I wanted to try to recreate the style and color from a hotel bedroom (this one): It's not a hotel, and it belongs to Duff, and I'm trying to infuse 'Duffness' into the style. This is what I have so far (and I apologize for all the shots): The bed has to be modern. I can't find anything that looks modern but not like a hospital bed. This Peggy bed is too low and an odd size, and I can't get decent shots because the OMSP's do not allow me to line him up exactly on the bed. I can only put so much clutter in this room before my game goes down, and the room has to be playable. I already have a problem with the fireplace and the hot tub. Anyway, I am hoping that since there are a couple of members from LS that I might get some advice. I really need it. Thank you. And again, I am sorry for putting up so many shots.

Oooh... that looks really awesome, Beth To be honest, I don't think it needs more clutter. Clutter looks great if done right, but a lot of times, it just seems overwhelming (although maybe I'm just saying that because I was raised by the two craziest neat-freaks ever). Hmm... maybe you could prop the bed on a short OMSP? It would be annoying, but the camera angles would be doable.

I hate clutter. I went through the whole clutter thing with my mother and now I throw everything away, absolutely everything. Books, small appliances, anything remotely decorative unless it's very large or hangs on a wall, and it has to be pretty damed decorative even then.
Nevertheless, I'm trying to make the room look real. I already see so many problems even apart from the damned bed, like the champagne on the sideboard. It wouldn't be there. I don't know how to make recessed ceilings so I cheated and used crown molding over the bed, which nobody can even see.
That's an interesting idea, raising the bed itself. If I can't find another bed, I'll try that. Thank you!

Hmm... When I saw the hotel picture I immediately thought of the bed you ended up using. I would say if you want a more modern looking one you might want to try www.4eversimfantasy.net or www.stylistsims.net. Bedroom 10 on 4esf might work and there are some bedrooms in the Objects Section of Stylist Sims. Unfortunately I'm no designer so I'm in no position to give further advice, especially about clutter.

SB, I think you've done a wonderful job! It hits on the picture you used for inspiration perfectly (in fact I prefer your version). If you really want to de-clutter it (honestly, I think what you have works but...) then you may want to get rid of the pillows, books etc on the floor near the bath - the pillow and throw you have on the settee (is that a settee?) works well enough. Also, you may want to get rid of the pillows in front of the leaning mirror - maybe use some floor candles instead, they'll still be decorative but won't take up as much space (I'd suggest keeping the colors you've used - red and white candles will add a nice contrast for the black). Last, in that same area, see how it looks with just the large green plant (with the black base). The other-worldly plant looks a little out of place. As for the champagne on the sideboard? I'd leave it. It actually works fine there, especially if romance is in play, you may even want to add two glasses . Muzegoddess gave you some good sites for modern beds that may be more suited to the omsp you're using. Hope this helps.

Sorry I'm just now getting back to both of you. It's been a challenging week.
Muzegoddess, thanks. I think I'm going to look for another bed.
Velvet: oh my goodness thank you!! I will take out that strange looking plant, and I'll add a couple of glasses. I don't think the clutter in this particular room is overwhelming: I tend to underdo it so if you think it's ok, it definitely stays. I'll substitute some candles for those pillows though. I think I will need another bed. This one is just too difficult to work with.
I wish I knew how to do that ceiling deco. I've seen all kinds of beautiful ceiling deco but I can never figure out how to do it.
again, thank you, both of you!

You're welcome! Sorry for the late response - I'm glad that things worked out for you SB (hopefully you've found the right bed by now ).

I use SilentLucidity's shiftable trays from Mod. They seem to do better than just regular OMSPs. I think that your screen shots are absolutely wonderful.

Velvet, I never did find a suitable replacement for that bed. The only options I found crashed on me, unfortunately.
mdp, thank you! I use SL's shiftable trays, too. I finally found that using an underground one and coming up through the bottom of the bed allowed me to line up the shot: not perfectly, but acceptably. And again, thank you so much for the compliment!
