I've been umming and ahhing about posting an advertisement for my story and I wanted to wait until I was absolutely sure that I had decided that this was the story I wanted to invest my time to. (That and I rarely advertise so this is the only forum I'll be advertising it on.) I've had a couple of false starts as some of you will already know, VoE having kicked the bucket due to the writer's lack of interest in said story and characters and The Druid Queen was revised to Inside Hope Springs. The former concept was too heavily based in fantasy and I wanted a more contemporary feel. I was also swinging between blogspot and wordpress but there are too many features of WP for me to ignore completely so WP it is. The story 'Inside Hope Springs' started out as a story about a girl with leukemia, inspired by a girl I knew in my teens who died of the disease at the age of fourteen. It evolved from there into something waxing sci-fi and philosophy and came about as a random conversation on an 8 hour road trip with my partner. The story explores the idea of personal identity and what constitutes what we call our 'soul'. It's a slow moving story that concentrates on character development rather than world/event issues and is told through the eyes of a young woman called 'Hope Springs'. If you've read this far, I commend you. You can read the story here. ------------------------------------------------------ LATEST CHAPTER:

Well, I've read it and I love what I've seen so far!

I've read it too! But I feel like I've missed the symbolism/reason behind this story. Not because the writing just didn't come through, but because I'm no expert in psychology or philosophy. I barely squeaked by in both 101 classes when I was in college so those two elements went completely over my head. (I'm a mythology buff, you see. ) So now, with the little background you gave, I'll be more aware of the hidden elements. Still, I think it's a great story, even if I missed the point by a hundred miles!

I appreciate the feedback you guys left. I'm always curious as to how people interpret the story I'm writing, their views and perspective on it.
MondayMorning - You didn't miss the point at all, the 'point' / 'symbolism' if you will differs for every individual. The way I look at it, imagine an abstract painting. You and I could look at that same piece and have different ideas about what it means. That's the same with stories. We could read the same book and still draw different conclusions. It's what makes the world such an interesting and diverse place.
I'm into mythology myself, irish, celtic, egyptian and recently, norse. A lot of my non-sim stories are influenced by these things. A few years back, I tried to teach myself hieroglyphics. It was a lesson in how a simple looking language can actually be quite complex and loaded with meanings.

Hi Carnaxa!
I just read your story last night and I love it so far.
The mystery of it all is very captivating, and I like how you are slowly giving out hints, but prolonging a full reveal. I also am really enjoying the strong focus on the theme of identity, and I can't wait to see how you continue to explore its many facets.
The main character seems quite intriguing as well, so I hope we get more bits of her past in the coming chapters.
I'll be sure to keep checking it out for future updates.

Oh I didn't even see someone had commented on this thread. Hey there Simusing. Thank you for reading the story. There'll be hints on Hope's past in later chapters.
Another update. 1.5 Body over at the story site. This one was a bugger to write. I had quite a few versions but none of it sounded right except for the one I decided to use. Having one of those weeks methinks!

I just read your new story! It's awesome--I don't know how you can write two different stories at once.

Thanks Raquelaroden. I tend to get bored so having multiple projects keeps my muse active - that and I have way too many ideas going on and they can't all fit into the one story otherwise I'll end up confusing both myself and the readers!

Updated with Chapter Nine. I suggest reading the additional notes as there's a new section at Transient Sims called "Hope Files" which deals primarily from the viewpoints of the characters outside of the main protagonist. It's an extension/background for some of the events that play out in IHS.

You tried to teach yourself hieroglyphics? I am intrigued and impressed! Plus a bit freaked that that is the second time hieroglyphics have come up today for me.

Yep, I surely did try to learn. Then I loaned my book to a "friend" who moved and took it with him. It was the best book on the subject I had and it took me months to find it. Ah well.
Updated with Chapter Ten of Hope Springs. An interlude chapter really.

Thanks DB! Sedate chapters are my favourites to do because they are slow and allow me to concentrate more on character development.
!UPDATE! Chapter 11 is now posted. The nearer I get to the end of the story, the sadder I feel. It's definitely been an experience writing this story but there's still 7 chapters to go to the final chapter.

Dear Carnaxa,
First of all my compliments on your excellent storytelling and awesome pictures. The pictures strenghten the story, but it's your writing that stands out. It flows naturally, and although it may look almost clinical on the surface (Hope 2.0's voice) the chapters throb with an wild and hardly controlled pulse (yours). You (almost intuitively, or so it seems...) colour so many sub-layers... the exquisitely enmeshed questions of soul, mind and essence you address.
I'm deeply moved by the concept you have chosen to explore, and wrote my comments in a highly emotional vein. I hope you will allow for that... (My comments are riddled with spelling mistakes, but I hope you don't think less of me because of that. I am clumsy when I look at the scope you offer... I'm but an ant, a prick in time... ah! The wide expanse of the universe.) This story, and the journey Hope 2.0 embarks on, is very similar to a journey I undertook myself (albeit in a world without 'transfers') nearly twenty years ago. Carnaxa, this story is of tremendous value to me. I can only hope you will continue. I need closure. I hope 'Hope 2.0' finds Self.
Bright blessings,
Moondaisy

Moondaisy,
Thank you for your support and encouraging words. As for spelling mistakes, we all make them and I'm not really worried about them. I wouldn't think any less of someone for something like that!
Comments written in high emotional vein are perfectly okay with me. Heck, I often get passionate about stuff I read as well.
Inside Hope Springs does have a final chapter. The story in its entirety is already written, finished and completed. The pictures have been taken, edited and ready to go. I'm just releasing the chapters one at a time over a one week span.
Once again, thanks for reading.
